I just dyed my hair and the stylist said I should wash my hair every 3-4 days to keep the color. Last night I dyed my hair and this morning I woke up with a mohawk and I decided to keep it by putting in pomade and hairspray. Should I wash my hair out when it's bedtime? And what should I wash it with? I don't want to lose the color in my hair after I already washed it.

Have you got the type of shampoo for coloured hair? It's milder. I dye my hair because I am quite grey now, and I use that, not regular shampoo. Makes the colour last.

I have sulfate-free, color-sensitive shampoo and conditioner plus leave-in hair conditioner. However, both times I took a shower I was running color down the drain. I don't want to keep washing my hair and ruining the color so quickly.

So my question is, should I just rinse my hair without shampoo and conditioner to get the pomade and hairspray out? I really don't want to ruin my hair after I just dyed it.

You might try rinsing and work in a little conditioner to help remove the styling product? I use a plant based color (henna and indigo) and i wait as long as possible to wash my hair afterward. Even the day I color it, I only use conditioner to remove the coloring material fro my hair (it comes as a powder that you mix with water). I do use sulfate free shampoo but still try not to wash it any more than I have to.
Thanks for this!

I was my hair a few times a week. My hair is purple lol and it is semi-permanent color. I recommend shampoo and conditioner by Purology ... best prices I have found are on Amazon. Also, washing your hair in cold water is best. It seals the cuticles and my stylist says it keeps color in longer.

A shampoo and conditioner for coloured treated hair is best. Sulphate free ones will help the colour last longer. I agree with rainy, washing hair in cool water helps.

Rainy I thought about trying pureology but wasn't sure if it was worth the price?
