I think I posted about this before. My idea of vacation is not what most folks think of when they hear "vacation." I'm off work until July 5th!
I plan to work on some projects around the farm, sleep, read, stay up as late as I danged well want, catch up on some projects at my mom's house, ride Kieran, hang out in the barn and just chill.

There's a part of me that would like to travel somewhere, but it's such a pain to try and find someone to look after the farm while I'm gone. Am also not real excited about traveling by myself. To me a large part of the fun of traveling is sharing the experience with a companion. Got no one to travel with me. Before anyone feels sorry for me, I realized a long time ago that my farm is my favorite place to be with all the things I enjoy doing right here at home.

I love working in the yard/gardening. I am working on a major project while I'm home to tear down some old fencing and move it, then put in an extensive flowerbed. I'll take some pictures of the project and post them.

I am flat out exhausted from the insane push at work the last few months. I slept 10.5 hours last night! The idea of two weeks of not having to wake up to that &**%)( alarm at 5:30 in the frickin' AM sounds like heaven to this tired ole lizard.

The critters have already said they are happy to have me home during the day. Mikey has parked himself next to me on the sofa or at the computer when I was in the house. BG came and hung out with me while I worked in the yard. Smart dog laid in the shade while I busted my butt in the sun. The horses came over to check out what I was doing while I tore down the old fence. I think Kieran was looking for a reason to snuggle. Woody is a sidewalk superintendent when anyone is working outside. He is Mr. Curiosity checking out what's going on.

Sounds like heaven to me, Liz! Yay for hanging out with beloved critters and doing "Me-Projects" , amirite?

Anxious to see pics of flowerbeds! Gotta do a lil work in one of ours; it's needing new mulch n stuff. Wanna come help me make vats of peach jam? Nah, didn't think so!

I spent Saturday hanging out around the house and tore down the old fencing that needs to be replaced. I spent Sunday and Monday working in the yard at my mom's house. It's actually my house. I inherited it from Mom when she dieded. to avoid confusion I still call it "Mom's house."

By the end of the day yesterday I looked like the original definition of "redneck". The skin on the back of my neck was beet red. Today it's a nice shade of brown. I am one of those people that those who burn easily hate. I might get an initial burn, then I turn a golden shade of brown.

Slept until 10 each morning! My body clock still thinks we are at work and wakes me at oh dark thirty. What a wonderful feeling to realize I can roll over and go back to sleep.

Critters are enjoying me being home. Mikey (cat) sits next to wherever I happen to be in the house. He is a real Momma's boy.

Still sorting out what I'm going to do today. The vet is scheduled at 3 for some follow-up stuff for Kieran. I might start working on the new fence and flower bed. On the other hand I have some sore muscles I forgot I owned from yard work the last few days. I might do some house cleaning. We'll see. My work schedule has been so jam-packed the last few months, it's nice to be able to do what I want when I want with no pressure to hurry up and get to the next thing.

Oh Nammu, you would really hate me then. If I spend enough time in the sun I turn this nice golden brown. The sort of color other people spend a fortune trying to get with spray on tans and tanning beds.

For me all the physical work is "down time." I know what you mean though. I'm spending plenty of time reading. Also did some binge TV watching over the weekend. I have some shows I like on DVD. My idea of fun is to veg out on the sofa watching episode after episode. Binged on Deadwood over the weekend. I have seasons 2 and 3 of Longmire on reserve at the library.

Y'all are free to laugh your behinds off at me. I had the new fence about 3/4 finished. Didn't like the location or how it looked. I stopped working on it for a few days to give myself a chance to get used to it. Saturday I tore the whole thing down! I made some adjustments to the layout and started rebuilding it yesterday. My Mom used to think I was daft for doing this sort of thing. My feeling is that if I'm going to put all that work (and money) into a project I want it to be what I consider "right."

I'll take some pics of the project as it comes along.

Nammu, I was thinking of you a little while ago. I spent three hours pressure washing my Mom's house this afternoon wearing nothing but a tank swimsuit. My back, shoulders and neck are bright red. I slathered on some aloe gel. I'll be brown by morning. The parts of me that have been exposed to the sun while I've been home are this wonderful honey shade of golden brown.

I avoid a lot of sun also....I burn red, blister if out too long & then end up with sun poisoning. Did that skiing one winter on a nice sunny spewing day. The sun poisoning caused my face to swell & the swelling traveled down my face starting at the forehead, then my eyes were swollen shut, then the nose & lips. What a horrible sight I was & that was just from a long weekend....ugh, had to go back to work looking & feeling horrible.

I am one of those farmers that is out mowing my fields at midnight using the headlight on my lawn tractor to see by.

I love it when my friends go on vacation because I am the local farm sitter for all my friends. I don't have money to travel so I'm the one that stays home to give them a chance to travel & I get to enjoy their animalsyou.

Sounds like you are accomplishing a lot. Sometimes that's the kind of vacation we need....just like you are doing....relaxing, enjoying, & working on the home we worked the rest of the year to have but not the time to do the things we want to get done.

I have lupus so I can't be in the sun at all and even the heat will sending me running to the bathroom to unload my stomach

I finished putting up the 145 FEET of picket fencing. Am going to add a 1X4 along the bottom of the fence. Then need to dig out grass and weeds where I want to put the flower bed. Will edge the flowerbed with landscape timbers. I'll take some pics of what I have done and post 'em.

BG is exhausted from supervising. He would lay under the truck watching while I worked. He acted as tired as I was when I'd knock off for a break.

Something weird has been going on while I've been on vacation. I'm having troubling dreams. I can't remember what they are about, but they wake me up and I feel unsettled. Woke up from a bad one at 4:30 this morning. Again, no idea what the dream was about, but there was no way in Hades I could get back to sleep. 'Cuse me while I whinge - it really stinks to have my rest on vacation disturbed by bad dreams.
