I'm falling more and more in love with crochet, but getting yarn is hard. I've looked online for discounted yarn and found some decent sites, but the one that had it the cheapest didn't have the one I need. I'm using Lion Brand Homespun yarn to make a blanket for bf's mom. I get it at Michaels, but its close to 5 bucks a skeen. I found it online for 2.50 but they don't have the color I'm working with. I've gotten yarn from Walmart in the past, but they've cut down on their supply dramatically and I don't know if they carry the homespun. So.....those of you who work with yarn, have you found a good way to get it cheaper?

Hi, Ray...
I have a whole room full of yarn, as I am in weaving in grad school right now, and also crochet every time I sit down! I also love the Lion Brand homespun, and was very disappointed to see Walmart cutting back on their sales of yarn! And, yes, it IS more expensive in the craft and fabric stores unless you catch it on sale. Have you looked for your color on Ebay? I have bought some fantastic yarn there, and have even found specific colors I was looking for from time to time. I buy a lot of my yarns from one seller on Ebay. Their name on there is "knititems."
Hope this helps!

At this site, ALWAYS check to see what they say for shipping times. Sometimes, it's up to three months, so you don't want to be surprised that way.

I hope that's helpful.

Excellent thanks guys!!!!

I think I'm gonna have to start getting it online since Walmart cut back. Michaels is just too expensive. I think I'll go look at yarns in person there and then order online hahaa. Thanks again!!!!!!!!

Oh and I just finished a baby blanket, I'll be posting pics soon!
