Do you remember the new hit toy Furby from 1998-1999 and how it was the "It" toy of that year, being what every parent HAD to get for their child or children for the Holidays? I still have my original Furby from way back then, and he still works like the day I took him out of the box, albeit he'd prefer sleep over play these days.
This Furby had a revolutionary level of interactivity, with touch sensors on it's head, belly, and back, and motion, sound and light sensors built into it's inner workings. It also came speaking it's own unique language of Furbish, which you could translate via the handy "Furbish to English" Dictionary booklet that came included. The more Furby was played with, the more it would speak English and the less it would use Furbish. This gave the illusion of it "learning" English from you. However, this was all preprogrammed into it. Around 2001, Furby got a makeover and was reintroduced as "Furby: Your Emotronic Friend". This Furby had a rubberized beak and eyes that would change shape according to what emotion it was "feeling" and trying to convey. It also had the ability to listen to what you said, and respond accordingly. For example, if you asked it to tell a story, it would go onto to tell a story. The last of these emotronic Furbies was the "Funky Furby", which was just like the basic Emotronic Furbies, but also sang and danced, and knew a few new words and phrases. Well, Furby had made it's comeback in 2012, with new expressive LCD eyes, and am ever changing variety of personalities, depending on what care it received. You could also play on a free to download App along with your Furby, using it to feed and bathe it, along with caring for any number of digital Furblings. Then, shortly thereafter, came Furby Boom, with it's own App, followed up by Furby Boom Crystal. You could play new games, care for all new real life Furblings (which were sold separately), and enjoy all new levels of interactivity with your Furby Boom and Furby Boom Crystal. In lieu of the recently released Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens, there was a limited edition Star Wars themed "Furbacca" that became available, with an all new App of it's own. Furbacca was made to resemble our favorite lovable Wookie, Chewbacca, complete with shaggy brown fur and ammo belt/pouch. After that, Furby got an all new makeover, receiving new full color LCD eyes and becoming able to connect with an all new app via Bluetooth. This Furby is known as Furby Connect. This is the Furby I have recently purchased off of Amazon and will be able to play with come this time tomorrow. I'm very much excited!! ![]() ![]()

*applauds* Beautiful! Outstanding!
I remember I wanted a furby back in high school but my parents wouldn't get me one because it was too expensive. Seeing this post makes me want one again.... |

![]() Well, compared to the first Furbies who debuted at a retail price of around $35, the Furby Connect is a whopping $89-99 depending on where you go. Maybe that could put things in perspective. ![]()

Wow you know a lot about furbys! But yea I went nuts when the original came out. I remember begging and pleading for one and I finally got it! I wonder if they're worth anything if they're in the box unused?
