Pat!!! I'm so envious! I want a fence like that! It looks just like an artist's retreat! You are so talented!
Thanks for sharing!
Also, some of the pics of your dogs remind me of my Henry!

Patty, go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy 16' of the fencing for $30.....then you need 4X4s and 2X4s and deck screws..also buy the big washer..probably 1-1/2 inch in diameter, to put the screws through to hold the bamboo securely to the support 2X4s....i can take close up photos, so you can see what i'm talking about. it isn't hard to do and it's fast. if i were you, i'd use the "cement block" 4X4 holders. i don't know what they are called, but it's easier than digging holes.... (my back).....

i take everything like this out of the rent. so, it's free and it adds to the property.....

"i take everything like this out of the rent. so, it's free and it adds to the property..... "

the fence, in the photos for Patty, was built long, long ago. it was finished in February.

if there is a question about my building the fence recently, that dog won't hunt. any ideas that any money that was donated to me was used for fencing is wrong.

any future fencing will be taken out of my rent. period.and that is between myself and my landlord..... my landlord expects that. in February, he got $61.00 in rent. and a bunch of receipts.

i built the fence. i will build another one when the heat passes. PM me if you have questions. pat

i think doing things to inprove the property that you are renting, as long as there are arangements between you and landlord that its a good idea,

i wish our landlady would do the same as we cut the grass and hubby has done minor repairs since we have been here

my kitchen sink is stopped up. i'll clean it out tonight. it's better to do it myself, than be disappointed when he lies and says that he's coming to fix it. i've finally come to the realization that doing it myself works, emotionally, for me. he hasn't told me the truth once since i moved in. except when he's here for the rent and he says, "i've come for the rent"....... Calling PattySeeker.....photo of Bamboo fence!!!!

i told him, long ago, that i would just deduct what i do out of the rent and he stuttered and stammered and shifted his feet and i held my ground. can't he see that every improvement or repair job just improves the property???????? i guess not....to him the money is what talks. but i talked to a lawyer friend and he said smooth sailing.....if he's a slumlord, then i have the right, in Texas, to repair my place. and add improvements that i need. (by the way, i've lived here a year and he's been on ten major vacations..what he does with his money is his business....but don't whine to me about being broke...he has a fantastic job at UT and so does his wife)

yes i agree with you about landlords saying something and not doing it, we have been here since dec and we are still waiting for our landlord to arange for a electrician to come and put eletric into the shed, we arent expecting this to happen

Pat...I so admire you for installng the bamboo fence yourself! It sounds like much work...hauling in concrete anchor pieces, etc. Lord knows I couldn't dig post holes! I'll remember your suggestion if I ever do such a job.
About landlords/slumlords...After viewing the house my best friend's husband owns and rents, along with many other properties, I decided I'm better off staying put in my little box ranch house! As you know, I've done all the improvements here myself, and I just finished looking at similar real estate here on the local listings online. Pitiful! One can't get a house here that is livable for under $100,000. I paid much less than that for my place, and still wondering how people manage to buy the outrageous property here!
You are doing good!
Love
Patty
