During a visit to Grandma's and Grandpa's when I was a little girl, it began to storm outside. I remember walking through their house, to the back porch, where Grandpa was sitting by himself in the dark, and asking him why he was out there. He replied that he was watching the rain. This baffled me because I had never heard of anyone watching it rain. Not wanting to be alone, I crawled up onto the wicker couch he was sitting in and sat next to him, declaring I would watch the rain too.

Now of course, he and Grandma have both passed on, and the house has been sold off, but I will always cherish the memories I've had, like the one I've shared with you, and the house will always be a part of my childhood.

Do you have any fond childhood memories of your own?

Yes, I have wonderful memories of playing with my best friend when we were children. We would dress up like characters from books we loved and make up scenarios ('Little Women', for example). Even though we live 2,000 miles apart now, we are still in touch...our friendship is nearly 50 years long.

Sounds like a tried and true friendship. One that stands the test of time!

I think my train set and a litter of puppies would be mine. My train set was just an oval on a plain sheet of plywood and the only "extra" I ever had was some smoke for the engine, but I never tired of watching my train go around and around. The pups I had for a time were sired by a neighborhood Boxer after our pure-bred Kerry Blue Terrier had run loose for a day, and not one of them ever disobeyed whenever I called "Here pup-pup!"

Memories of going in the car with my parents and Sister for a day travelling to Loch Lomond (Scotland) and having a picnic on the banks of the Loch.... beautiful scenery!

My Granda taking us for ice cream and then fishing at a local pond on a Sunday still gets me.

Christmas morning in my house growing up was just magical. My Mum is a big kid and we would get up at like 5/6 am to open gifts. My Dad wasn't a fan lol!

I have lots of fond memories from my childhood. I remember when I was dancing and singing while crying with laughter with my father and siblings to 'hit me with your rhythm stick'. I remember me and my brother getting up to mischief together, how we'd always be outside on our bikes playing together. My mother tickling me and making me laugh so much my stomach hurt. Happier times.

It was 1969, I wasn`t even 3 yet. We took a trip out west to see where my great grandfather is buried and saw the sites, all now forgotton to me. I remember being in one of the stroller things at Disney Land and I do not know why, I remember nothing else from this trip but I remember my sister getting off of a water ride soaking wet. That is the first thing I think of, when I think of her now but her ***** of a husband had to kill her, so my memories are far and few between anymore. They get worse and worse and worse, every time I hit my head. I don`t think it will ever end, until I am gone myself. When people tell you that ids under 3 can`t remember, tell them they are wrong! I was 2 1/2!!

I remember when i was tiny tiny, their used to be e a select few video tapes that would, as my parents put it, "shut me up"

1 was a video of nursery rymes, and 1 was a tv series called "the singing kettle" (named after the scottish group with the same name)

I wore both of them out pretty quickly

something else I used to do as a kid, (well still do), is get excited when the post came

what I used to do though is go in to my parent's room when it arived, bounce on the bed and scream pe pat poe's been, it's pe pat poe!. sooo cute!

1 of my other childhood obsessions was the tv series gulla gulla island, and I remember in 1 of the episodes natalie and the children made a rain band to try and keep the rain away- and after I watched that one, I did it too!- by banging the walls and kicking the floor

recording over all my parent's bob marley cassette tapes with gaga sounds

it was cute.

owning a teddy ruxpin (I miss that toy!)

oh and 1 more for now

I used to have a talking teddybear named bingo bear, and 1 year our nursery were having a picnic and we all had to bring along a teddybear or something to show the other children

I remember saying to my mom, "not bingo bear, he'll break, and you can't take talking bears to a picnic!"

but I only said it to protect bingo and she fell for it too

will try and think of more

most of my childhood was robbed from me, but some stuff that happened during toddler years was fun

There were lots but this one was pretty cool--6 years old, sledding down my favorite hill in one foot of fresh snow (had to avoid lots of trees and veer to the side of a stream at the bottom) accompanied by 2 of the neighbors dogs plus my dog that nipped at me the whole way down (the faster I went, the more they nipped). What made one "run" stand out was when I reached the bottom instead of being accompanied by the dogs, they were barking at something in a tree to the north of me. It was two baby mountain lions (they were spotted, cute, and crying for their mother). I ran to tell my dad who came back heavily armed (rifle in one hand, pistol on his hip). Soon the neighbor came, armed with his shotgun and a camera. He made the picture he took into Christmas postcards -- I still have it amongst my piles of photos. Unique encounters with nature are amongst my favorite memories--whether I was young or older.

I hope he didn't shoot the lions

that would have been cruel.

I really don't have many positive memories growing up. Not even Christmas was positive; except for, a Christmas Dinner tradition of my dad's (mom got upset every year). Dad would invite students or people alone for the holidays over. Perhaps it might have been their company, perhaps it was that my mother had her nose rubbed in it, but this really gives me good memories.

Visiting my maternal grandparents in Florida was always positive for me. I was a withdrawn child that lived in constant fear of mostly social situations. But, being with my grandparents brought me out of my shell and allowed me to enjoy life and just be a carefree kid.

No, we left those baby lions in the tree, the guns were in case the mother appeared--that could have been dangerous. Just stayed long enough to observe the adorable baby mountain lions for a bit and take pictures before leaving them on their own. We had a cabin (went there on the weekends only) until I was in 6th grade. Then we moved up to this relatively wild place. I also had encounters with lots of snakes, elk, deer, javelinas, skunks and a bear. We lived on the absolute Eastern edge of the Fossil Creek Wilderness area. Right before the ponderosa pine, walnut, oak forest turns into a desert with lots of pinyon pines, pinyon juniper trees (both shorter than normal trees) and mountain scrub bushes.

We had unlimited shrimp. Jumbo size, cold, with cocktail sauce. Cheeses. Lots of cookies.
We made 10 varieties of cookies. Especially chocolate chip w walnuts. Sugar cookies.
While we were at Christmas Eve services( I sang in the choir) Santa brought the gifts.
Loads of presents. Took till after midnight to open them all. Next day parents slept in.
We played. They got up around 10 am. We would go to Grandparents house for more gifts.
Yes. Fond memories.
