I'm thinking of getting a cat. I've come up with these names, what do you guys think or do you have any other suggestions? I like old school names.

1. Thelma
2. Hazel
3. Mabel
4. Stella
5. Maxine
6. Shirley
7. Lila

I think you should wait till you get the cat, you want to match the name with the cat's personality.

Those are great names. I do agree about waiting to see. Can try saying them outloud as your cat's name will probably roll off your tongue many times a day. If I had to choose by vote, I like Lila.

Duchess has always been a favourite of mine.

Cats are usually regal and snooty, well at least the ones in our family, so it seems like a good fit for a cat.

Sadly I've never gotten to use the name, as our household always votes male.

We have a prince named Gato, my sister has a queen called Lilith and her daughter has a ball of love who responds to Kristofferson.

My new kitten is very soft. I named her Silky.
The other one I adopted after she was here with kittens when I was a fostermom. She was feral and so young.
So I named her MommyBaby.
I had a cat I named A Bon chat. French for good cat.
One I couldn't figure out a name. He started coming to "Come here". So I named him Come Here Batman. He looked like a bat mask on top of his head.
I got to name all the foster babies that were here. Frank Sinatra Baron. He used to kinda sing.
Hunny Bunny.

I waited till i took my kitten to her first vet visit to name her. I named her Evy after the heroine alongside brendan fraiser in The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. She definitely suits the name.
Thanks for this!

I think sometimes people rush to give their animals a name. Wait till you see their personalities. All of ours have been rescue animals. We had a black cat that we got with the name coal. I think the same thing with baby's. My husband wanted to give our daughter a nice southern name I guess it would make her sweet and lady like. The girl is a hellion.

Sorry for going off topic

Waiting to name a cat isn't such a bad idea. If the cat doesn't already have a name. One of my cats I called Cuddles because he was always jumping on my lap or walking across my shoulders just to be near to me. The other cat I called Jenny because she was a tabby and reminded me of Jennyanydots from musical CATS........

Another friend named her cat Madam because the cat was a little bit on the aloof side.
