I am amidst a spell of creativity. Perhaps it is indicative of a bigger problem as the process coincides with that of the onset of great energy and focusing on projects rather obsessively. I've suggested eleswhere this may be the sign of the beginnings of hypomania. Regardless, I like it. I enjoy it. It gives me a sense of purpose. It gives me inspiration. And finally, I am thrilled to have some motivation in my life. It has been several years since I have even been able to produce art. Oh I have tried being creative during this time but anything I have painted or made has been lacklustre and merely an exercise of going through the motions. Once again, however, I feel a sense of life in my work that has been missing all this time.

What has spawned this? Well we are far from Spring here on the frigid prairie but we have been seeing sunnier days. I am suffering cabin fever; I'm itching to get outside. Is there a connection with this?

To those of you who are creative (which, considering we are a mental health community I hazard to guess are a great many) do you find situations, events, and seasons coincide with your artistic inspiration and ability? Does this ability coincide with cycles of your mental health?

Spring for me is always the most creative time....I can get into outdoor projects & have time to complete before winter hits. Usually I keep my house too cold in the winter to even think of being creative other than maybe knitting something nice & warm. Winter is for curling up in a chair under a warm blanket next to the fire place & reading. Too cold to even want to paint.....though this last winted has been more like spring & I have been working on orgsnizing the inside of my house....but it was too short of time & still have too much to do but outside is calling with lots of creative paint projects to get done this year.
