I finally finished my grandma's blanket today. Her birthday was yesterday so I didn't quite get it done in time but I told her I had a suprise for her Wednesday so she'll definitely be suprised. I talk about all my crochet projects with her but haven't mentioned this one. Here's the pics. My phone resizes most pics and it drives me nuts, but theres one thats a good size. The blanket just covers the legs. It took about a month and a half. No pattern, just created it. Grandma's Lapghan (Images)

She's getting it today. She called and said she doesn't feel like going anywhere because she has a headache. I said she'd get the suprise on Friday and then she said come over anyway if I want, but now I feel bad cuz she's got a headache and I hope I didn't make her feel guilty cuz I want to give her the suprise! Ahhh...I think I'm just being self conscious I think she still wants to see me even though she has a headache, so maybe the blanket will take her mind off of it.

Thanks for the compliments! I'm working on one for myself that became kind of like an experiement blanket months ago when I first started crocheting. I've just tried all kinds of stuff on it and its coming out so cool! Its almost done so I'll post pics of that one too at some point.

It's lovely. I can't crochet despite trying many times. I think I might try and learn again!

I have just finished a scrapbook for my Gran's 80th birthday and I will be giving it to her on Sunday. I've been working on it since August so I can't wait to give it to her.

Let us know what your Gram's reaction was!

Sweet!!! I've never been so good at scrapbooking but I used to put clippings from magazines in my journals.

I literally taught myself out of a book. I went to Michaels and got "I taught myself how to crochet". Its a whole kit with the hooks and everything. It was 10 bucks. I'd recommend getting Red Heart Worsted weight yarn in a light solid color to start practicing! It's tons of fun! Now I'm starting to branch out and try patterns, the first being a beanie. But I mostly just like to create. Its a great way to relax!

I have never scrapbooked before - this was my first attempt and I must admit I spent a fortune on it. Being completely inexperienced, I bought a kit but then the fever took hold and I spent hours and hours downloading free scrapbooking stuff as well as buying lots more bits and pieces. The end product really looked good - especially some of the later pages where I started to get the hang of co-ordinating.

Anyway - hijack over - back to crochet - your 10 bucks will be about 80 bucks my side (which is a lot) but I am quite intrigued and may just visit one of our needleworking stores and see what's on offer.

What was Gram's reaction by the way? Have you given it to her yet?

Yep!!!! She LOVED it! She was shocked when I handed her a present. I don't think she was expecting a present to be the suprise. After she got through all the tissue paper and pulled out the blanket she was speechless! She held it for awhile and then draped on the back of her couch, right by the pillows that inspired the colors. I have pics of it on the couch below. Years ago I gave her a crosstitch of humingbirds and she has that displayed so she can see it and now she's happy to see the blanket I made for her. She said my mom would be proud. Check out the pics of it on the couch! They didn't resize this time, yay! Your scrapbook is beautiful by the way!

I am so glad she loved it! It looks awesome on the couch and matches the pillows perfectly.
