as some of you know I bought 3 acres in Feb this year. We have stumbled across a few things along the way such as alot of different wildlife. turkeys, deer, and abundance of rabbits and today low and behold we have a bear! yikes! bear season will open in my county this year I think for the first time. Not sure yet what we are going to do! lol EJ has life on the prairie and I have life in the mtns! hehe

Be, I live in the northwoods of Wisconsin and there is a bear wandering around my neighborhood, along with the occasional wild turkey. Don't get me started on deer.....most of the rednecks who live here will take them home if they hit one on the road! life in North Ga

Periodically in the sheriff's report of daily calls there will be one of a cow or horse in the roadway....yeah....I MISS THE CITY!!! life in North Ga

Last evening, my son took me with him on a wild ride. He had to go into the back country and drop alfalfa for horses and cows. He was pointing out each spot where he had killed a deer, where he had run into a bear, where the horses wouldn't go any further because there was a bear in a ravine, we got to see some owls, one of which caught a skunk and boy, you could sure smell it! From the top of the mountain, we could see the lights from two cities on our right and a small town, then a larger city on our left.

We came to a small flat piece of land and I thought it would be a perfect place for a cabin for John, the kids and me to live. life in North Ga Ahhh... dreams are nice. There's no way for me to get around up there. LOL

I'll take wildlife anyday if given a choice! In some ways, I sure do envy him!

Enjoy your country living, Be!!! Find that camera, too, and share some pics, would you?

I am trying hon! It is so quiet out here where I live. My house is 450 ft off the road so I get very little road noise as well. We have now been able to open the windows so I am sitting here right now listening to the birds and crickets and everything else lol. we did have a skunk somewhere on the property a few weeks ago. yuck! There are 4 horses that live next to me and sometimes I take carrots out to feed them. *sigh* I love it here.

lol. love reading this... i live in the mountains in pennsylvania. i have tons of trees around my home here. i do get wildlife, too, especially deer, squirrels, and chipmunks. i hear stories of an occasional bear in my neighborhood, though i haven't seen one since i moved here 2 1/2 years ago. lol. anyway, i love it when my uncle comments about hearing the chipmunks in my yard. lol, i tease him to death about him having bionic ears because i'm deaf and cannot imagine hearing chipmunks moving around in my yard. lol oh, yeah, my neighbor told me last month that her golden retriever got into a skunk and was smelling of skunk. hilarious.

Oh how I so miss living in the country. To get up in the early morning and see the deer feeding in the fields...and especially after they've had their young and they bring them out for the first time to a field....how they run around and kick up their heels! It's so awesome to watch.

I miss my friends the bear, deer, moose, turkey, fox, rabbit, snake, etc etc etc.....*sigh* Maybe someday I'll be able to get back into the country.....off the road....back to nature once again *sigh*

hugssss

Ahh Georgia.. sigh.. I have two aunts and uncles there, one in North, one in South. growing up I used to visit in the summer and that was heaven to me. I really envy people living there, outside the cities that is.

In North Georgia they live between Dawsonville and Marietta, and in south Georgia just outside Tifton. My aunt in the Marietta area came to visit last week and told me their area has exploded in population since I was last there. A shame really, used to be very quiet there.

lol... I know what you mean. I have to admit we do have a grocery store and a few other convienent places, but only a population of 2600 or so. I had a home built a few miles outside of the "town" about a year ago and am much happier now.
