does anyone here play the piano? I want to learn and did buy a keyboard to learn. it is a portable grand style sound. I think it is a 66 key instead of the 88. I hope I have that right lol. anyway I found an online free lesson site but it only gives you 4 free. I want to at least learn all the notes and cords. ideas anyone? anyone willing to donate used lessons? easy ones? lol

Bebop,

I am a lifelong musician who never really mastered the piano. In college, my classmates called me "steelfingers". One thing I do know is that you can't thoroughly learn an 88-key instrument with only 66 keys. On the other hand, unless you are planning to play some advanced compositions, you can probably play most of the songs you want on 66 keys.

I have a 60-key electronic keyboard in my gaage that belonged to my dad. He had a lot of fun with it.

Good luck, have fun, and invite all of us to your first recital!

Gary

I don't have any of my beginniers books from when I played the piano a couple of lifetimes ago, but I can suggest that you buy a "theory" book to learn your cords. You'll learn the keys on your first lesson, Hon. There's only eight of them that repeat. The theory book will tell you where they appear on the page. piano

That is so wonderful that you are learning to play the piano. I am a musician (primary instrument is flute), and play the piano. I will dig through my music and see if I still have any of my old beginning piano books from way back when. If I have them still you can have them. I will look tomarrow. I am so happy for you. If there is a college near you that offers music as a major, sometimes the music students learning to teach will teach at very reasonable prices.
