And poor Purple, asleep in her timezone, is going to wake up to a massively unthreaded thread.

I need a shirt that says, "I work hard so my cats can have a better life."

Yeah, tonight may be an all nighter for me.

I got maybe three hours of sleep last night. I was spinning so bad I had to take a benadryl to knock me out at 3am and still had rough sleep...Bear with me, I do not feel so good.

Please tell me this isn't awful. I sent this to my dad last night and I'm worried what he'll think...

I don't want to hurt your feelings or stress you out, but I received a couple bad phone calls today during Thanksgiving. I want to talk about this with you because you are an objective listener, you see things from all sides, and you are very reasonable with your advice, and I want to know if I am simply overreacting from the stress and not thinking clearly, or maybe this is something I can move forward with.

Since living with Mamma and Papa, I really appreciate having my own space, and I know you can relate. I've obviously never been to Lincoln City, but the idea of being alone with my thoughts and doing my own thing, run around the house with the tunes blasting, etc sounds so, so good. I looked at studios in Lincoln City and its well within my means, I've got over $3k saved up, and with my experience and all the certificates I've earned with my caregiving company, I could find a job within two weeks.

Today at Thanksgiving I received two bad phone calls. The first was finding temporary housing for Evy so T can have guests over. She said it was a one-time thing, but Evy has gone from the fire, to a stressful overnight at M's, to a strange house with multiple pets, to now spending a night in a bathroom and then going back to the strange house that she's still getting used to. Then, right after Thanksgiving dinner, M's mom left an angry voicemail saying Salem was stressing out, that M's settlement went horribly wrong, and that they couldn't even fathom dealing with Evy and that Salem was enough trouble. So that made me really worried to think that if M had another meltdown and kicked Salem out, he'd have nowhere to go for the long term. So that is one of the reasons why finding a studio in Lincoln City sounds like a good way to go. I know the plan is to move as a family, but I really like the idea of living in a studio with the cats and having my own space. Do you think I am overreacting or is this something attainable that I can achieve?

I’m so sorry you are having a tough time. What you sent to your father is well written. The studio sounds exciting. Thinking of you and your pets.

Yeah, it's well-worded, Lark, and something that a thoughtful, smart person like your father will consider carefully.

Not to take away from your predicament, LL, but I was born in Lincoln City, OR. I spent the first five years of my life in the house at Inlet and 8th, a block from the beach. Drive by it sometime when you get there.

Oh thank you to you all, it is such a relief to hear that.

It is hard for me to initiate face-to-face conversations when there are big topics that are new or overwhelming. I struggle with telling people how I really feel in fear of rejection or hurt feelings. But I've been building up that confidence to do so and my parents and I have grown closer because I am much more confident about articulating my needs. But my hope is we can have a sit-down talk about it, and no matter how it goes, I will have had the opportunity to discuss it.

It must be hard for parents to let go of their kids. But they do have to. I'm sure they'll be impressed by your mature attitude.

Ah look. Bjornen's first house!
It's very pretty. You're lucky to have grown up near a beach.

It's tough because of the fire. I cannot begin to describe how stressed out the entire household is. It's really rough. But I'd like to think in my parents perspective, to get a feel of what needs to be said to get "permission" to move to Lincoln City. I think that's going to be important, because their needs are different from mine.

Oh how cool! My parents took a chance by stopping for a few days in Lincoln City and absolutely fell in love with it.

See, mom and dad? I'm not going in blind. I got a friend on the internet who said he lived there! hahaha!

The nice thing about the Oregon coast is that most towns are still relatively affordable to live in. There are no freeways connecting most of them over the coast range mountains, so there's a slight sense of isolation (not that there aren't a billion tourists during the season).

I so hope you move there, just so I can hear about the places you visit, and get all nostalgic. Galluccis Pizza has remained unchanged since at least 1982, haha.

Don't hope, know. If I don't move there on my own, I'll move with Mom and Dad. But I am definitely going one way or another.

Oh! I see. I thought you were looking to move there on your own, but the whole family is going. You just want a place of your own in addition to moving there. Got it.

Fun fact, my plushy-mauling black cat, Oregano, was born and adopted just to the east, over the mountains, in Corvallis. Ahhh, you got me homesick for my home state, Lark.

parkhill2.jpgIt's so interesting to get these snapshots of your lives.

I'll be sending positive vibes, Literary. It WILL go well

Here's where I grew up. I don't feel nostalgic for it! It's one of the brutalist blocks built in the 1960's. The window on the far left, top row, was my brother's bedroom window.

Oh my! Purple, I can't say I blame you for not feeling nostalgic. I once asked in the interview thread about favorite types of ambient light, and you responded more or less with, "Dim light? No thank you." I think I'm starting to understand

Ah, that's so you to remember a thing like that

Yes, it was grim. I don't know how I survived it, really. I've always been a bit of a delicate flower. I got beaten-up quite a lot. That playground on the right, I stopped going to it because I got into a fight every time.

Have you heard of The Arctic Monkeys? They're from my city, and filmed several videos on this estate.

Oops, yeah, forgot to mention...my parents are currently working on retiring in addition to working on insurance crap. The expect to move out within six months to a year. For the past two years they spend two weeks in Oregon checking out different cities to move to, and Lincoln City is IT.

So that's the main reason why I want to move on my own to Lincoln City. I'll be in a safe, quiet seaside town where Mom and Dad will know I won't get into trouble, and I'll have a job practically waiting for me as caregivers are in high demand up there, and I'll be able to live close to my parents once they get there so I'm not completely alienated and alone.

I've already picked out an apartment. Lincoln Woods. It's a very similar setup to the apartment complex I spent my childhood in. The photos look decent, nothing fancy but not run-down, but they allow cats and dogs. I can get my snake too! haha Oh boy the snake story is such a long story. I had a snake once and had to get rid of it, my dad is terrified of snakes and says when I move out I can have whatever pet I want. But now that I'm a little older and wiser....I'd rather have my cats.
