I'll be sending positive vibes, Literary. It WILL go well

Here's where I grew up. I don't feel nostalgic for it! It's one of the brutalist blocks built in the 1960's. The window on the far left, top row, was my brother's bedroom window.
Thank you!

Oh my, that looks so cold and severe!

Thanks, LL.
This photo makes it look better than it was!
But I got away. So, a happy ending. And I'm never short of material when writing about my past. You can imagine, when I first went to art college, full of middle-class people, it was a shock. But as I got older and carried on mixing with creative types, I tried to turn it to my advantage. I'd often hear them say, 'I don't know what to write ABOUT.' I remember thinking, Mmm. That is one problem I'll never have.

Thanks for your interest, LL, especially when you have other things on your mind.

We keep breaking PC with our cute animal pictures and sparkling wit.

Was it hard to adapt to being around middle-class peers, Purple, or did you take to it well?

Oh, was it "View from the Afternoon" that featured the estates? I had to look it up. I knew of them but was never familiar with their videos.

The "Do not throw sharp objects into the childrens playground" sign kind of says it all.

VENT ALERT

I bawled my eyes out this morning. I had to take Evy to be rehomed for the night and I was so heartbroken and devastated to see her cowering in fear, hiding behind me, and the look in her eyes that said, "You're leaving me, and I'll probably never see you again." Oh god, I'm crying now at the thought. Those eyes were so sad and fearful. She started crying the minute I shut the door. I'm so upset I'm still just crying at how sad and awful this situation is. And it makes me so angry to feel so powerless.

This is the last time I'm rehoming either of my cats. Period.

I won't restate much of what I said before, only that I am even more determined than ever to move out. I just don't know how to overcome the parental disapproval I know I will likely receive, I don't want to fight my way out of the house, and I don't want to give my parents an ultimatum or burn bridges in the household, but from what you're saying, I write in a mature and thoughtful manner, and I know personally since the fire, it's been noted how well I go with the flow, how beyond grateful they are to me for the tremendous help I've been to them, and they know I am stressed and concerned about the cats, but I want them to see that this is ultimately for my well-being and neither a demand nor an ask for permission, just a new chapter in my life that I need in order to succeed.

There are a couple things I would like to say anonymously and not to my parents. One, I am not obligated to stay with my grandparents. My parents do not have a choice, but I do. I am not locked into my current job, and I will pick up where I left off with new clients in Lincoln City, and the plan was to move with family until I have the means to move out...but I already have the means...for an apartment...my mom just assumed I'd magically be able to save up $100k for a condo on the beach right next door to them. Second, and this is very private and touchy, I feel that my parents are leaning on me for support, and I love them, but I should be leaning on them for support.

I feel better for writing this. Since last night I've been raging and manic and stressed. I want to be cool, calm and collected as I always am around family when I talk to or email my dad. I want to put up a good fight, just without the fists and in a more pleasant manner. I've been wanting to move out for a long time, it's just only been recently that I've decided on where, and I want to be able to show him I'm ready for this next chapter.

Thank you all for your support!

A good guess. That estate is further out. Jarvis Cocker grew up there! No, mine is this one.

We are here for support every step of the way, LL. It sounds like you've made a lot of strides to not let the BP rule your life. I hope your parents can see how capable you are of handling this new chapter.

Purple, I see now. That is both amazing and dreary. Is all of Sheffield like that?

Dude! Lark! That makes me so giddy! Haha. I wonder if they still have this old, old Pac-Man game there. They did a few years back when I visited.

Oh man, I am so excited about this.

220px-High_Street,_Sheffield.jpgIt has a lot of pretty parts. And the people are actually famous for being friendly. It's a very musical city. This guy very much captures the sound of my home city; a mix of gritty reality and dreams of escape...

LL—I would lose it if my baby cat was crying for me. I struggled a lot with parental approval, control, role reversal—it isn’t easy. You keep going with what you need to do for you. I hope you find a way to be at peace.

I once found myself on a crisis line because I couldn’t deal with a guilt trip someone was putting on me. He told me he had been through the same thing, and that he just had to say that he couldn’t live like this. It’s funny how that never even occurred to me—I simply accepted that I had to.

I'm so excited about this! Check this out...I wrote this myself:

Lincoln Woods Apartments is $700 and allows cats and dogs. The Dorchester House, a senior independent living facility, is 8 minutes away. It is within walking distance of a Starbucks and a quick drive to a local coffee shop. Within 5-10 minutes of drive time, there's a famous pizza place called Gallucci's, Pigs n Pancake, Taco Bell, McDonald's, Mexican, Safeway and Grocery Outlet, Rite Aid and Walgreens which are both pharmacies where I can pick up my meds, Oregon Credit Union which is similar to Redwood Credit Union, 3 veterinary hospitals, the Lincoln City Chamber of Commerce, a nail salon, thrift stores, Dollar Store, Sushi, bars and breweries all along the same road, which is Oregon Coast Highway 101.

I am all set! Hahaaaa!

Thank you, it means a lot. I know this is a fun thread, and I really like you guys, and don't worry, there will be more fun coming from me, but to sit and type out my feelings...rather than go ape-shhhh...calms me down and helps me refocus.

Sorry to keep boring people with this, but I can't help myself.

LL, just a few blocks south of that area is Read's Candies, another shop that hasn't changed one bit since I was born. Behind it is a small lot with a tiny sand dune. There's a picture of little Bjørnen sitting in an old car in that lot. When I visit my mom for Christmas, I'll try to find it and share it.

Not boring. I’m looking forward to seeing it!

That is a long time to wait for a baby BJ pic, though.
