According to the accompanying article 91% of people can't complete these phrases. I got a perfect score. I'm baffled that anyone who speaks American English as their first language would not know these.

91% of people can't complete all these common phrases... Can you? | HowStuffWorks

I was worried I wouldn't be able to finish as it kept reloading......but I did! 100%.

Well, that was an amusing little diversion. I scored 35/35 here too. It seems a pretty easy quiz if you grew up immersed in the language. Probably the 9% simply come from places with really bad subtitles and closed-captioning.

The only one I found odd was "hit the hay". It was obvious, but I've always heard "hit the sack".

And the pigs fly expression always reminds me of the old engineering corollary:

"With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine."

35/35 here too....some real old time idioms. Enjoy idioms & where they come from.

Always enjoyed learning the Spanish idioms in spanish class. First one for that was:
"En boca cerada, no entra mosca."

In a closed mouth no fly will enter.

100%! Could it be we older ones know them but younger generations don't? (Well, I'm in my sixties---maybe at least age thirty or more? Just a thought...)
