The newly released movie contains a plot where a renowned Norwegian scientist has figured out how humans can reduce their footprint and save Earth from overpopulation. It's called downsizing, and it's irreversible — but if enough people do it, it could save humanity. In "Downsizing," it's made a movie about really small people. As in, five inches tall.
Downsizing is catching on. Entire communities have sprouted up around the world. Paul and his wife, Audrey (Kristen Wiig), childless and still living in the house where Paul grew up, attend a school reunion. Suddenly, Paul's now-five inch friend, Dave (Jason Sudeikis), and his wife are wheeled in. "Dave? He never struck me as the kind of guy who'd go get small!," Paul marvels. Later, Dave, perched on a cracker box on the kitchen counter, explains the best thing about going small: the economic benefits. At that size, you can live in total luxury for a fraction of the price. Forget the planet, Dave says — "downsizing is about saving yourself."

When you have a kid do they grow normal size? That would be awkward.

I'm thinking about this. My concern is the people and animals who remain regular sized. Birds!

TSG, I know exactly what you mean! Haha! Such people and animals that remain their regular size, could create quite the dilemma should, we at our downsized selves, encounter them! I'm not normally a cat person, and would imagine that at my downsized size, would be even far less a fan of them! (haha).

Haha!! Wow! TSG even with the fascination I have about shrinking, while I would be thrilled to experience the sensations and wonders of being downsized, the part about it being irreversible terrifies me! I could only hope that I would have the great fortune of befriending someone that was from Canada, a great pole dancer AND looks good with blue hair! ;-) Do you know anyone like that?? *hehe* Thanks soooo much for participating in the poll question and for sharing your response!

Lol!!!! Who cares if its irreversible. I actually think it sounds like fun. It would be like moving to another planet. I really like the show tiny houses. I could built my tiny self a really tiny house. Do you think it would be possible to tame and ride squirrels? Oh I would get into so much trouble in people's houses. Eat all their junk food. Yes I like this idea more and more.

LOL!!! OMG you've got me laughing out loud and with glee!! ;-) Wow! You definitely got All As in your creative writing classes! And seeing how riding a squirrel would be too much like being on a roller coaster, I would volunteer to hold your purse and take pics (like i do at most theme parks when other's ride). I'm hoping that I can hop in a remote control car and keep up with your Uber Squirrel! Haha! And, as for junk food, I'm thinking that a "small fry" or even a single one would be more than enough to fill the junk food craving! ;-). And I never really looked at the irreversible part, like being on another planet! Hmm...And now I will always think of your "tiny house", whenever I see the Tiny House Show come on!

Lol. It would be like a whole other planet. I would have to move out of Canada because the snow would bury me. Maybe somewhere nice and warm like Mexico. Instead of riding squirrels I could ride lizzards. Tiny house with a tiny pool. I could go on. This is a fun idea. You're brilliant.

God can you imagine what rain would be like? The smallest sprinkle would be torrential downpour. And a little breeze? A hurricane! I think there are some major problems with the proposition. Also, if you have kids, and they come out small, does that mean they are forced to live small forever, since it's irreversible? And what about sports?

What if we were originally giants and this is our downsized civilization? I think you can adapt to just about anything. Kids born small would never have known any other way. It would be their normal. Many species thrive though small and honestly I think tiny humans would be better for the planet overall.

I'm thinking, what planet wouldn't be overjoyed to have you on it! ;-). And whenever you build your tiny house (with the tiny pool and all), you just have to let me borrow your builder as well! ;-)

Seesaw your description of the rain & breeze sounds like a bonus to me! ;-). I really like to take in the view and feel of a rainy down pour, and the breeze would offer incredible kite flying weather! Haha! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!
