Palimpsest
I love what it is and I just love the sound of the word its self. definition - a manuscript or piece of writing material on which the original writing has been effaced to make room for later writing but of which traces remain. ![]() |

Colloquialism. In fourth grade, I found it in the list of spelling bee words. I loved to spell it then, and I still like to spell it in my head every blue moon.

Nonchalantly
The first time I heard this word, I couldn’t stop laughing. A friend of mine said I had nonchalantly walked away (I don’t remember exactly what I had done—obv as if nothing had happened). |

Hmmmm. At first I mistook the title and I thought you were asking "What do you oddly love."
In which case my response was the smell of petrol lol. I love the word ostentatious and I have no idea why but yes. Great word! |

Serendipitous
Because not only I love the movie called Serendipity, but I just love how it rolls off the tongue. Also it means fate or destiny, which I am a BIG believer in!

You just had to ask, didn't you? Well, you said oddly though so,...hmmm... I don't know. It's too early in the morning for me. I can't get my head together. Sorry.

Dilettante. First came across it in a Hemingway novel. I think the line was Jake is a dilettante. I wanted to be one ever after!

Ingenue.
in·gé·nue ˌanjəˈno͞o,ˈänjəˌno͞o/noun An artless, innocent, or unsophisticated young woman, especially in a play or film. Friends (this was a while ago!) suggested I should play the part of the ingenue when we were all sitting around deciding on a movie we'd love to star in. Too funny. But it's a great word, as are so many words that have come down through the French language. |

Most people don't know the history behind that word, but Julius Caesar was forced to decimate his troops after they disobeyed him and lost a bridge.
Possible trigger:
That is what it means to decimate--reduce by 10%. Last edited by FooZe; Feb 01, 2018 at 04:32 AM. Reason: added trigger tags |

I didnt know the history, but i knew people often used it incorrectly, like as a synonym for obliterate.

There was a magazine in the 1960s by this name, like a teen vogue. It had the pronunciation right under the name on the cover!

I've got it! Just needed a nap is all! It's liquorice! I love the sound of it.
Kind of sounds like something to do with licking and another favorite word in my vocabulary of kink. ![]() |

Tenacious is mine. Have always loved it. Someday it’ll become ink. When I really live up to it.

Apocrypha. That's a good word for always conjuring up dark and broody things.
