So people get bullied and abused in the internet world, and all the talking is about offering community support, medical and psychiatric care.
All the article does is talk about how to just prevent suicide and does nothing but instruct to do what is needed to be done

In conclusion, even the writer doesn’t have any idea how to deal with the crisis

I have stumbled upon a paychopath and a machiavellian, at least one of each, and it’s a disaster - they put a facade of an innocent boy/girl with their intact emotional equilibrium to give false hope for the crowd

It’s pathetic and sad

I don't think this belongs under General Social Chat. This forum is meant for light heated discussions.

Maybe you should ask for this to be moved to the Depression forum.
Thanks for this!

I'm confused what the psychopath comment has to do with the article posted. I have a good friend who fits the criteria of the entire dark triad. You are judging him based on that and linking that personality to the suicide crisis? You think that every cyber bully is a psychopath? I was picked on really bad as a kid and I think they were just jerks. I'm happy to discuss with You, but I don't see what your stance is.

I know what's it's like to deal with a psychopath online. I've been cyber stalked by one. No self control or ounce of thought toward my own feelings, only there own self and proving some sick and twisted point mattered in their warped mind.

It's rather sad and pathetic really, that someone has to belittle or degrade me to make themselves feel better.

I think I read somewhere that bullying stems from lack of one's own self worth and the need to take frustrations out on someone they either envy for some reason or just happens to be in their sights at that time.

Maybe my cyberstalker envies some qualities I have. Like the ability to know my self worth and to be comfortable in my own skin and body, no matter the shape or size.

Or it could just be my hair. Mother always said it was my crowning glory. Otherwise why would she want to make a wig out of the ponytails I have cut off every couple of years or so?

This is a discussion topic which has nothing to do with having depression or any other specific diagnosis, so I found this place the better spot than the “Depression Forum”

SadGirl - it has partial relation to the topic. A part of it is my venting since I’ve been through lots of bad experiences lately, but it can also be related - if a psychopath can make one suicidal like one did to me, then it probably has such effect on others. May not necessarily make them suicidal but can make them feel worse than they were before.

Artchic, bullying does stem from lack of self-worth, but it’s not as we thought.
It stems from the bully’s personal feelings of self worth. To make themselves more worthy, they put others down or rise up while preventing others from letting them down, so they can actually have more value, such as a leader, or someone who seeks to fulfill needs.
Just like bullies steal lunch money, they do it because of gluttony for resources. That’s why these classic bullies are so big and physically strong. Or, it could be the other way around - because they are so big and strong, they need lots of food so they devalue some people enough to just take the money from them

To me, the internet is still a wild west in general. People will say what they want because of being behind a screen and know that there is little to none consequences.
Also those who troll and bully, i would say are insecure and unhappy with their own lives. So they get a sense of power by saying incendiary things. They also get attention because of it.

It doesn't matter what they are or who they are. What matters is what they cause, and it needs to be addressed eventually.
I have come across various viewpoints and opinions, ones which even kind of support bullying, saying "How are you gonna handle life if you can't handle some strangers over the internet"?

I agree with you "Dog on a Tree", the internet has a wild-west air to it.
But with that I will say it's not just the internet.
The entire mental health field viewpoint has a wild-west air to it, too. Because I have stated the perspective that mental health should be something to be protected by enforcement (the "Mental Health Police" thread I made a long time ago https://forums.psychcentral.com/othe...th-police.html), due to the fact that mental health professionals have been enforcing the idea that mental health is the same as physical health (which is why mental health is treated in HMO's).

I know I've been stating some topics which are not the same as the main topic, but they're all related - digital age causes un-monitored bullying, which cause un-monitored mental health damage

How do yiu monitor something that MAY effect someone one way & have ABSOLUTELY NO effect on someone else?

Who determines what? The one person who if effected who may actually out to get that person? That is why class action suits were formed in bysiness & medical areas so people who have ACTUALLY been harmed can band together against those who have caused the harm. One on one action can be viewed in legal terms as hearsay.

This topic is VERY complex & there may be no good solution that doesn't cause harm to someone on either side of the issue.

Can you elaborate on that?
It sounds interesting, but I am not sure I got you right

It's just an abstract not the full article. I am sure if you looked up the article you might find information that you were looking for.
