Do you now or have you ever collected beanie babies? Do/did you have any rare ones?
I started collecting beanie babies when I was 11. I would get whatever I could find from the thrift store. No matter which one it was or what quality it was in. When I got older I started collecting only rare ones or ones with older tags. I go to thrift stores and I only pay $1 or less for them. I’ve made some pretty good money and I’ve found some pretty rare ones. I found a dinosaur that I paid less then 90 cents for. I sold it for $20 and I found a bee that I paid 25 cents for, and I sold it for $15. I also found a bear that’s not rare by itself but it had an older tag. Which made it more valuable. I paid 50 cents and sold it for $10. Besides that I’ve found several other rare ones or ones with older tags. I always at least get my $1 back. I had kind of given up on beanie babies. Until I went to the thrift store on Monday. I found another bee, a super rare camel and an orange crab. They are all authentic and they all have there tags including their hang tags. I paid $3 total. Both the crab and the camel I dreamt of finding when I was a kid. I’m not sure if I want to sell them. I do like them and I mean, they are childhood dreams. I’m guessing I could probably get about $30 for the camel and $15 for the crab. Maybe $5 for the bee since it’s not in great condition. But I probably won’t sell them. I don’t need the money that badly. |

My daughter had a ton. A ton. I saved some favorite ones. Waiting for maybe when she has kids she can give them or they can play at gradmas. That’s if she has kids of course. Not interested in selling though. Too much work and not enough profit

My son used to collect them. They are cute, but they have really lost their value, so they aren't a good investment, but they are fun to collect.

Yeah that’s why I go to the thrift store and buy rare ones for $1 or less. I don’t get much money from selling them, but I still get way more then I paid for them. I’m really selective though. Even if I find one that’s not rare, but has an older tag, I only get it if the tag is in mint condition.
It’s a fun hobby for me. |

I remember when Beanie Babies came out. I adored them and had 3. I remember one was wearing bright pink. but I don't recall anything else. Except that they were so soft.

I know it would be fun to go beanie baby hunting. It's great that you got such a good deal in ones you wanted.

I hope you keep your beanie babies.
My daughter liked them, and she never took the tags off (not sure why). I’ll have to ask her if she still has them. |

I still have mine in a storage tub in the attic. I knew I couldn't get all the different beanie babies so I just focused on collecting the feline ones. I am a huge cat lover.

I know this is an old thread, but today I sold the orange crab for $20 and the camel for $30. They were really excited about the camel and one of the sellers kept looking at it and petting it and stuff while I was waiting for the owner of the place to come back from lunch.
I made a pretty good profit considering I only paid $2 total for them. The bee they didn’t want because they said it wasn’t in good condition. __________________ Ridin' with Biden |

I occasionally picked them up in the 90s. They were really big then with some fetching unbelievable prices. I worked at a department store that sold them. When the important ones were shipped to the store, awful I know, we staff would keep them for ourselves. I know I had some pretty good ones. Not really my thing though so I gave them all away.
Hmmm, I am trying to think of what I collect now instead. A look around my house and the answer is that I have a lot of pretty benign things: stones, feathers, and shells mostly. Which is good - they're far cheaper. |

I had a bunch. And they were probably worth some money. And then we moved. And then my wife threw them out. And then the college fund went out the window.
