I have a ton of these. I’ve saved most of them. I wish I would have had the presence of mind to flip them over and write the year on the back. Not that I ever look at them.

I guess I’ve pitched ones that mean nothing to me. Someone from high school sends me a Christmas picture of her kids I’ve never met every year, and they aren’t even signed *pitch* I think I’ve tossed cards coworkers were made to sign.

What do you do with all the cards?

I sort though them and any I can make into book marks I do. The rest I toss.

I keep the ones that are special to me in a box. Others I just throw away.

usually they end up in a stack of other 'important' mail (bills, receipts, etc) for a few months to a year and then they end up in the garbage. years ago I used to keep the ones from people that were really important to me, but now I just see it all as clutter...

most of the time keep them for a while, then tear them up and throw them away

sounds ungreatful (especially as I don't get many)

but their we go

Making them into bookmarks is a great idea. Never thought of that.

I usually end up tossing them all out.

They tend to go in the recycling bin, I used to keep the ones that meant a lot to me but I lost them to my ex when we split so I stopped keeping cards after that.

I have a plastic container that I keep them all in. Occasionally I will go through them and find money that I never realized were still in them! That's always the best, haha.

When it comes to Christmas cards, I save the front cover of the previous year and punch holes in the corner so as to tie them on the tree as decorations. Then they are pitched so I can roll the current year into position for the next.

I have one relative that sends out a multi-paged block letter with far far too much information within. I can barely bring myself to read it let alone keep it. Pitcher-roonie it goes.

I don't send greeting cards, & I've told all my friends & acquaintances not to send me any. I think it's ridiculous to spend $5 for someone else's sentiment (plus postage)...making tons of profit for the greeting card companies. When I did recieve them I just threw them away, as they have no lasting meaning - other than the fact that sender got ripped off buying the trite thoughts some geek in Kansas City wrote.

This is the age of technology. I think giving someone a phone call or sending an email (with your OWN sentiments in it) is a far more intimate way of expressing your love for someone. (Can I hear a BAH-HUMBUG?)
Thanks for this!

As well as a few of my own I collect them from friends, then I cut the front off the card, disposing of the message back part and give them to the children's hospital drive. The children use them for craft projects.

I think that a nice card is such an under rated gesture. I don't settle when it comes to buying a card. I read all the poems and messages to make sure it fits the person and my relationship to them. A funny card for certain people. Or a lovey dovey card for some. The more original the better. I know it will only stay on mantle piece temporarily but it's worth it. I keep mine for a few months and gives me a smile to remember the good times. Or to think some one has searched for the perfect card that they know I'll like.
Thanks for this!

That's a great idea. To make a collage or scrap book.

It's so nice to receive greeting cards anymore. I keep them for a few months, pitch most, keep maybe 1 that is special to me and very occasionally pin 1 to my wall.

I felt that way for many years. Then I kind-of missed greeting cards now and then. The older people in my family (ages in their 70's) still look for greeting cards and display them proudly.

I used to have a whole sack of old greeting cards I'd play with as a kid. Don't know whatever happened to them though. One day they just weren't in the downstairs playroom anymore.

I keep my sentimental cards in a special box. I like the bookmark idea. I’ll try that out.

I’ve kept at least one. It was a congratulations on your success one. I kept it because the women who gave it to me was very special to me and she died of breast cancer a couple years after giving me the card.

I used to keep them. Years ago. Then I would keep them for a year and recycle them. Signs of the tech age we live in that people rarely send or give cards any more. Nobody send letters and texts seem impersonal.

I used to make cards sometimes even sewing gold thread onto them.

I keep them until I do a massive clean-up then I recycle them.

Where are you getting $5 cards? Last one I bought was 99 cents.
