I am going to a Pride near my area, and it will be my first Pride. I really want to go all out in my costume, but I'm nervous about it because it's not as big as, say, the San Francisco Pride but still a big turnout.
First off, I will be wearing a cover up to get to and from the event...a t-shirt and sweats, the costume will be strictly worn at the event. With my costume everything will be covered up, no nudity or implied nudity. This is a similar corset to what I'll be wearing...not exact, but the breasts are covered, a zip up on the side, and it's a lace up in the back ![]() I'll be wearing black skinny leggings that have a "wet" look to it, military boots, a pink feather boa to cover my shoulders, and a black cat masquerade mask. So again, nothing revealing, everything covered, and I'll be wearing a shirt and sweats to get to and from the event. I'm not sure why I'm nervous...if I'm only wearing the outfit at the parade and covering up outside the parade, it should be fine...right? What do you think? |

Just saying - the one time i went, and wore a dress to a pride day gathering, the only person who spoke to me was a big tall black drag queen. I got the distinct impression he thought i was a short fat white guy in drag. Actually all he did was nod at me. Everybody else ignored me. I was just trying to look nice. I am cis-female, but my attitude is pretty androgynous, very laissez-faire. But gays think im straight, and straights think im gay.
If i were you, and at this point i know you fairly well, i'd say - maybe wear something over it you can keep on if you decide to? And like wear black hose underneath instead of hot pleather tights? KWIM? So you have a choice once you get there, and can be comfortable and participate and have fun either way, or half-way, or whatever! ![]() |

I get your point Una. The tshirt Ill be wearing is a Pride shirt the sponsers produced for this event. And my sweats are more like a cross between yoga pants and sweats. So it would work for the event as well and still be sporting Pride.
Its funny, I got a lot of attention simply with the mask when I went to a gay masquerade ball in SF. Gay guys were even flirting and dancing with me. My outfit was ugly but with the mask everyone wanted to dance with me...LOL! |

If it makes you feel good - and proud - I say go for it. Let your inner self out. I am quite happy for you.

I decided against going to Pride. Not worth going by myself, parking will be insane, may not get a good view of the parade, may be expensive with the parking fees and the booths, and there is a strong LGBT community where I'll be moving up North. Plus, I want to spend as much time with my friends as I can before I move, and one friend was trying to set up girls night that day...So instead, I'm inviting her over for a spa day.

Plus, I love corsets and will find a time to wear it, it won't get too dusty. And now I have a local Pride shirt bought at the Market to wear as well.
