I decided to stay home today from work, a personal health day. My goal was simply to relax. I told my workplace I was sick. As I did it I thought of this... often, when I do that, I get paid back by my cat getting sick. Then I really have to take time off.

So my cat decided to get up and hang out with me. Normally he sleeps all day.

I had some glass windows on a table which have been there for weeks. I thought for sure... that was a bad idea but every time I saw it I did nothing.

Of course, my cat pushed the large glass windows off the table and they shattered.

The good news.. it does not appear my cat was harmed and he ran the opposite way. The bad news.. he immediately wanted to go explore. So I had to yell at him to go upstairs and he got scared. Very scared. He doesn't understand why I was doing that.

Long story short, I got him into his room, cleaned up the glass, went over it with a vacuum and let him come down stairs and explore.

But my cat is terrified and exhausted. I am furious at myself for this. None of this would have happened had I not stayed home today. I lost the glass for the cub bard I was redoing. AND my cat is scare of me now and for what.. for what? Mental health day? Waste of a day.

It is possible he is injured and it is possible that he could be in the future if I missed some glass. And for what?!

Frustrated. It is almost like I made it happen...

Oh no! I'm so sorry... I hope your feeling a little better, and that your cat has recovered.

I hate it when stuff like that happens. I hate the "guilty" feeling, and I hate when one momentary lapse leads to a big, huge mess that then has to be cleaned up. (I recently dropped a box with ALL my perfume samples and bottles... and a bottle of iodine. A couple of the small perfume bottles broke, but so did the iodine... I ended up with LOTS of orange stains in my kitchen. It was a huge stinky mess to clean up, and I just wanted to cry!)

Once it's done and cleaned up though... hopefully you can move on. This didn't happen because you took a mental health day. There's absolutely nothing wrong with taking a day off when you need it - it's good self-care! And, really... the windows could have gotten knocked over at any point, it was just dumb luck that it happened today, right?

The bright side is... you were there to keep your cat safe! What if you had gone to work today, and your cat had randomly decided to jump up, and knocked the windows over when you were gone? Yikes!

I hope you're feeling a tiny bit better, now that it's all cleaned up, anyway. I'm really sorry that it sounds like it ruined your mental health day though!
Thanks for this!

Oh, my. Of course, we can't say for sure that your cat might not have broken the glass otherwise, but that certainly wasn't what you had in mind for your day off. I am glad your cat didn't get hurt--and I'm sure he will recover! Hang in here!
