I am very sad to hear that she has passed away, a great singer.

She was a great singer, a great person. She will be missed.

What a woman! In fact, she was the first woman to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Interesting that Queen Aretha and King Elvis died on the same date - August 16th. The spiritual philosopher Alejandro Jodorowsky teaches that dates have an unconscious significance.

The announcements started rolling and Respect began playing in my mental jukebox, juxtaposed with an intrusive Hey, Nineteen.

But, I gotta admit that the pop-pop-popular Natural Woman is in the high top 20 ‘Retha hit-parade, too.

I’ve not become accustomed to the deaths of my idols. At my age, I’ll blurt, “But she was so young! Only 76!”

I tuned her in after that first banner, been listening all day.

Same here.

I brought it up in convo with 6-7 neighbors yesterday.

One said, “I heard that on TV,” but no others made a comment.

Of course I went into withdrawal when Leonard Cohen died; and found but one compatriot.

If Van Morrison precedes me in death — crap — I don’t know how I’ll react.
