Tonight I work from 9pm to 2am. Not as long as my usual shift, but still a little tiring since I'm not in the swing of being up so late again yet. It will get better though.

But I do love the walk home where it's dark, peaceful and quiet. Kind of dangerous, but I don't have a car right now, so screw it, got to get home somehow and the bus doesn't run after 8pm.

Does anyone else work a similar shift, and what do you think about working those hours?

I used to work graveyard, from 11pm to 7am or midnight to 8am. Mostly as an CNA but before that as a factory plastics molder and later at a live in school. I loved graveyard cause I never slept anyway. And it's great for getting to work when all the cars are going the opposite direction. But yeah it was a bit of a hassle before I had transportation cause yeah, busses don't run late. I wanted to sleep from 9-5 but that's when all the appointments are so my sleep was erratic and did me no favors for my bipolar.

Yeah, now that I think about it, these hours might be part of the reason I've been so irritable and hypomanic here lately.

When I was in college I spent about a year working from 6pm to 6am 3 days one week, 4 days the next then going to classes after that. Living on caffein pills was not healthy. It was nice to get a normal part time job that worked around my school after I had enough of that.

BUT my computer engineering career required lots of long hour work with deadlines. I was always driving home after 2am though I would end up starting work after 10am since I did need sleep too.

There are no night shifts in my line of work.

My husband worked 7pm to 7am for years. It was terrible for his health and our lives all together. It was a nightmare. He finally works days 7am to 7pm. Couldn’t be happier. Somebody has to work nights but he paid his duty.

Don't currently work nights, but have in the past. For 12 years I ran my own business during the day then worked nights starting at 4:30 and getting off anywhere between 10 PM and 2 AM. I liked being able to do my shopping in the middle of the night because the stores were empty. Driving home in boonies in the wee hours of the morning could be kind of creepy though.

I used to work 11-7 in a residential facility. I loved it.

I used to work the graveyard shift years ago and I loved it! I worked 11-7. I had a group of friends who worked the same shift and we would occasionally meet at the local pub at 10am for beer and pool.

Twice I made the mistake of staying up all day between shifts. Thankfully i had youth on my side and zombied my way through it.

I don’t but I wouldn’t mind it. I did inventory once and I had to work until 2 in the morning. I didn’t mind it and I wasn’t all that tired.
