Does anyone have a hard time multitasking? Mine has gotten so bad to the point my mom is saying I’m being rude to people. At the grocery store I went to self checkout to specifically avoid an issue like this happening. The store wasn’t busy. I was checking my stuff out. One cashier started talking to me. Then another one started talking to me. I was trying to juggle talking to both of them while ringing up my purchases correctly. My social anxiety was getting in the way. I ended up dissociating a bit and I ended up ignoring one of the cashiers. On my way out I did say bye to her. She gave a weird look and I got a lecture on the way home from my mom about being more social and nice to people.
I think it might be new medications or maybe just an anxiety issue, but does this happen to anyone else? How do you deal with it? It happens to me a lot so I’m wondering if I’m being rude to anyone else. I really don’t mean anything by it.

Last Tuesday night I had a problem single tasking.
The only thing open was self checkout & I had a huge basket full of food. I was RUDE to the self-checkout machine & I am sure the store person must have thought I was crazy. The dang machine kept telling me to scan the next product then it wouldn't let me scan tje next one until I put the Item in tje "bagging area". I finally told the dang machine to "just shut up..... I woukd put the item in the bagging area when I was dang good & ready or I already put it there, what is your problem?" I finally got done but it took a lot longer than having a cashier. Lol....I am better at multitasking than I am at doing something new on a huge scale. I actually chuckled at the convetsation between me & a machine.

I guess I can do that too. Lately though I seem to just be saying the wrong things sometimes. It’s frustrating. My mind just thinks too fast or something. I kind of blank out when I have conversations.
Those machines are frustrating. Grocery shopping in general is annoying. Especially the one I used to work at. Maybe I should just not shop at that store anymore. I’m having so many issues even years after not working there.

I found that when I was under a high level of stress I would get in a conversation & my mind would wander & I would forget my own train of thought & never finish what I started to say.
I was better for awhile but some stressful issues have come up that are requiring my focus (with my divorce & with 2 sick dogs) my mind is more on those things & I am finding I really have to focus on conversations when I am around others. It is easy to get lost in my thoughts right now.....so I focus on mindfulness to where I am & who I am with.

Lack of sleep and anxiety are making any single task complicated. I don't seem to be able to write much anymore.
I got mad at the self check out machine too. That's funny ![]() |
