Ham, homemade mashed taters, southern style green beans(has onion and bacon in them), corn, brown gravy, dinner rolls and chocolate pie for dessert.

I'll be alone so I'll roast a cornish hen, with wild rice and mushroom dressing and a sweet potato.

We usually don't do any sort of Christmas dinner, but someone gave my dad a turkey at Thanksgiving and it's been in the freezer since so maybe we'll cook that.

I'm not sure. For once I'm not cooking. Woohoo!

Years ago we had a stomach bug hit our house on Christmas. Everyone was really sick and we threw away roughly 75% of everything I cooked. Haven't done a Turkey at Christmas since. Last year was lasagna, cabbage rolls before that and duck the year before.

Pineapple-spice ham steaks, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, and roasted Brussels sprouts with prosciutto and sage. Not sure what we're having for dessert, or if we're having it. My husband uses 3 pounds of potatoes, so we'll most likely be comatose after the meal. If my daughter comes, she'll take the remainder because it's her favorite dish.

We're so sick of turkey and there's too much bird even as a breast. We usually do Cornish game hens for Thanksgiving and ham for Christmas.

Turkey and mashed potatoes for sure. Probably some vegetable. Dinner has to be gluten free because my brother in law has severe Celiacs disease. I’ve learned from past years that you can have a great gluten free Christmas dinner.

Growing up it was lutefisk and lefse but this year it will be ham and side dishes.

The usual. We did consider getting a goose but my dad vetoed that...

Turkey, gravy, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, sage and onion stuffing, brussel sprouts and carrots. Cheese and biscuits and Christmas pudding to follow.

For Christmas Day, it's Chinese Food in my home. I'm considering tossing together an impromptu seafood casserole for tomorrow night. It's always been seafood on the Eve on my mom's side of the family. My grandparents used to live on a farm so the idea was to diverge from the usual fanfare and then when my mom was alive and my gram visited for the eve before going to my uncle's, it was fresh lobster meat and homemade lobster rolls.
I chose Chinese food on Christmas Day eons ago. My exh used to get these Christmas bonuses and after the kids came along and were up well before dawn...it was way too much for any of us to put together big meals...

I'm jealous healing. I would love having lobster for Christmas, but it is very expensive where I live.

I'm not sure what we're having on Christmas, as I don't cook. My Dad got a big ham, but I won't eat it, because I find pre-cooked ham way too salty. Hopefully there will be some other meat, and if not I'm fine with being vegetarian for the day.
Thanks for this!

Our oven doesn't work, so I'm poaching chicken and making garlic mashed potatoes and carrots.

downandlonely,

I've veared away from the lobster meat since my mom passed. My kids don't really like it and it just isn't the same. For my impromtu casserole I have some haddock filets and scallops sitting in my freezer. I'm trying to reclaim a piece of my own preferences and fond memories without undoing myself.
I haven't celebrated the Eve with my grandmother in a couple of years and longer prior to that. We shifted to togetherness onto the 23rd for the past 8 or 9 years. That's the schedule that worked to for my uncle's schedule. Last year I was boarding a plane on the Eve to visit my dad for his wedding.
I'm heading up to visit my gram in a couple of hours then going out for dinner with my aunt and uncle and cousins.
And tomorrow tossing together this casserole and the kids will see their dad and exchange gifts and it will be their first year celebrating on the Eve instead of on the day, as they all now know the truth about Santa and there's no need to delay the exchanging of gifts so that we can all chill out on Christmas Day.

My mom always makes a beef roast with golden mushroom gravy and a ham and we all bring side dishes. I'm making the deviled eggs and a cherry cheesecake.

In many ways we are sort of lucky here is Australia at Christmas time. The weather is typically very very hot during the festive season..meaning most of us rarely need to slave away in the kitchen on the day. I do one or 2 roasts in the 2 days leading up to Christmas day to serve cold with seafood salads and side dishes.

This is also a Puddingless house...I will make a Raspberry White Chocolate Parfait/SemiFredo and the obligatory Pavlova for Dessert.
