this thread is for those of us like me who like using perfumes- to say what we are using right now and what we think

currently I have:

- rush (which is sort of nice)

- far away tropical (which is also nice, but sometimes not noticeable)
hawaiian breeze (which smells like coconut and lasts for like ages)

-another coconut one

- sarah jessica parker (which I've not used too much yet)

and a rose one which I forget the name of

I'm kind of old school but I like alternating between Obsession and Opium. My only problem now, is that so many of the buildings I go to now, are scent free that I don't get to wear them very often.

Definitely Opium. I am not a flowery type of girl and the spicy aroma of Opium is a very good alternative. I also at times will dab some bergamot essential oil on my wrists as it to makes for a pleasant non-flowery scent. You may laugh but I occasionally choose to wear my boyfirend's Drakar Noir. Yes it sounds silly for a woman to wear a man's cologne but I just love the smell of it and so wear it myself with no care what others might think.

I just want to add that showering in one's fragrance makes life difficult for a great many out there with allergies, etc. You just need a little dose.

Prada candy
Jador
Juicy couture, any of them are good
Red door aura (traditional red door is too heavy)
Dona Karan cashmere

I also use body Sprays when I don’t feel like perfume. Japanese cherry blossom or Honey suckle from bath and body works

I love Obsession. Used to wear it many years ago. I even used the shampoo and conditioner. I can't seem to find the perfume anywhere anymore.

I just started getting into perfumes about a year and a half ago, and love love love them so much (which I never thought would be me).

I love sampling... and have something crazy, like 200+ samples at this point

I just tried out MAC's Ruby Woo for the first time this weekend, and OMG! So much cherry - one big, brilliant, juicy burst of straight up cherry for like 40 minutes on my skin - it was glorious! The dry-down was a little more sedate, a soft whisper of cherry with some leather and woods, just barely there on me.

(I tried their "Velvet Teddy" yesterday, and it was lovely as well - tobacco and vanilla and spices - very warm and cozy.)

Lately, I've been getting into some of the little Indie brands. Today, I'm wearing "Manor" by Solstice Scents. Lovely deep vanilla, but a little on the masculine side.

Perfumes just blow my mind in how they manage to capture and bottle these scents. So very cool!

Another "opium" here. I used to wear a solid musk that I found in the natural section of stores but can't find it anymore. There was a few others, but again they don't make em anymore. One was a spicy oriental. I like "heaven scent" but rarely see it. There used to be a scented shampoo which was wonderful " Halo" but they quit making it. I don't like florals but do. Like lavender for some reason.

Wow..thought I was the only one eho didn't like floral scents....you are making me feel in good company.

Have been using Amber Aragan (sp?)

I love the smell of sandlewood. Used laundry softener with that scent so my cloths smelled good & I tried not to conflict that odor with perfume when wearing cloths freshly washed.

Of course when I do a lot of horse riding I smell like horse & maybe only horse lovers like that smell

Sometimes I use Axe for her body spray. Or a type of Caress body wash that has a perfume in it. Lately though I’ve just been smelling really good by using a lot of Degree motion sensor stress deodorant.

I use:

Ed Hardy (women, smells good but doesn't linger)
Ed Hardy (men, smells amazing and lingers for hours)
Jovan Musk (women, reminds me of old ladies because that's what my Mamma uses, and personally I like the smell and it lingers all day, sometimes almost too strong)

Just beware of using a lot of deodorant because all the aluminum & chemicals do absorbe through your skin

Well, my little sample of "Manor" yesterday didn't quite work out as well as I had hoped. I had sampled it last week on the back of my wrist, and thought it smelled lovely, like a deep, serious, woody-vanilla. Very comforting.

When I wore it yesterday (under my shirt) - it was still vanilla, but it took on a little bit of something masculine. It wasn't overwhelmingly cologne-like, but it was just enough weirdness to put me off (especially considering it's so easy to find many awesome vanillas). And it lasted... all... day. Even at bedtime, I was still smelling it.

I have therapy today and piano tonight, so I didn't want to try anything untested. And after yesterday, I wanted something a little lighter and more feminine... so it's a quick spritz of "Lazy Sunday Morning".

This was my gateway perfume, I originally got a sample in a free sample set from Sephora. I wanted to try some perfumes, but up until then, nothing worked for me - and I thought maybe I just couldn't wear perfume. Everything that I got kind of overwhelmed me. This is pretty and very rose-based, but also sparkling, light, and clean. If you don't like florals, it's probably not for you. And, I have to be careful to spray with a bit of distance (too close makes it too concentrated on my skin, then it smells a little radioactive!).

But, overall, I still love this one. So pretty!

Ooh, today I'm trying "Estate Rosewood" from Solstice Scents. This one is really lovely! It has some rose, some vanilla, and some woods (oak, hinoki, I'm sure more)... but, to me, it doesn't smell like any of these stand out and dominate the perfume.

Instead, I get this luscious, creamy, just utterly gorgeous and comforting smell. I don't really know how else to describe it... it's yummy, but not something I'd want to eat.

I want to spray my closet with this, and make all my clothes smell like this, forever!

It's very well-blended I think, and the notes seem to agree with me. Definitely a win (I'm sampling a bunch of stuff from Solstice Scents... just got a new pack of samples yesterday, but I'm letting them "rest" before trying them.)

Edit to Add:
I wish there was a way to transmit smell through the internet. I wish I could spritz myself, and hold out a wrist and say, "here! Sniff this! What do you think? Isn't it amazing?" - and for you all to spritz and share back. I have no one in my life that I can appropriately say, "Smell me!" - ha! It drives me crazy... My sister will be visiting soon for the holidays, and I think she might get all my pent-up perfume sharing mania foisted upon her.
