Hello,
I am currently making a fantasy fictional universe. This universe is not technologically advanced. It is based in the CE/AD time period. There are multiple types of terrain including desert, volcanic, grassland, freshwater lakes, ocean (coastal), safari, tundra, jungle, temperate forest, and swampland. I have been thinking up strange combinations of animals like cats with porcupine quills and foxes with wings but I would appreciate outside input as well. Please and thanks to everyone

How about a big shark with small, muscly legs that can hunt on land for short amounts of time. :-)

Sorry this isn't a combination of two animals, but what about grasshoppers that are the size of actual horses (we call them "meadow horses" in my language, that's why it came to my mind lol)
Or meat eating plants that can move and actually chase their prey. Either by moving on some sort of legs or by being intelligent and preparing huge traps that can catch large animals or even humans. Or they might strangle you like snakes.

There might be an acidic marsh with some sort of acid loving bacteria with psychadelic effects I imagine a place with colorful water, like when oil from a car leaks and it sometimes looks like a rainbow? And there would be psychadelic fume from bacteria around that.

Perhaps not a turtle but a talking jewel covered creature would be cool. I’ll have to contemplate that one.

Dogs with gills can be accomplished. I’ve already got weird creatures in trees that go tweet tweet though lol

The mobile plants idea could be a good thing. I could have animals that hide/stalk their prey by looking like innocent plants and launch at them upon getting too close. Strangle kind of like Devils Snare in Harry Potter? That could work, I will just have to change it enough so that it’s not too similar in case of copyright issues. I do have a marsh, it would be interesting to see if I can make it highly avoidable due to toxic fumes yet make some people need to go in there.

I also like the idea of dog with gills. now I am thinking land dwelling stingray, or climbing mini feathered goat. nope, I like yours better

A goat/bird hybrid would be cool. It could be similar to a griffin but backwards. It could have the upper body and front hoofs of a goat but the talons, feathers, and wings of a bird for the bottom half.

Giant cat-dinosaur hybrid.

A giant cat the size of a house with body features of a dinosaur. Either scales, an extra set of arms, a bigger snout, or spikes coming out of it's back.

I legit had a dream about getting sucked into an alternate dimension awhile back that had these creatures in them. They would hunt humans for food and take over their houses to use as their boxes (like you know how real cats like boxes). The humans were struggling for survival against these beasts. When they were ready to hunt, they would utter this big shrieking MEEEOOOOWWW which signaled that the humans need to GTFO lol

@DarknessIsMyFriend I like this - Dino kitty. your description is something like a scene from Alice in Wonderland where her arms and legs emerge from the windows and doors of a house and her head pops through the roof. Although if she had a second or third set of arms, she could have taken the "drink me" potion and "eat me" muffin at the same time. I bet that would get her spikes and a bigger snout like you describe. and lol, a house sized litter box is something I want no part of. ekk, not today. the meow shriek, yeah, I think that is possibility, but who wouldn't if humans were GinTFK, and not piknup
