I have a feeling i do. Based on the similarity of issues i post here and what i shared with them. I wont rule out at one point in time, my family members sneak into my room and got my username for them to monitor what i post.

I have told my boyfriend I do. My psychiatrist knows because he recommended it. I don't think they check up on me.

However, I do get concerned that I have peers that also use this site and worry on occasion that I might be outing myself to them via my posts and identifiable markers like my artwork. I hold back then on tales which are about or include an acquaintance out of fear I might inadvertently offend them. Sometimes though it can't be helped - and I worry and regret the decision to do so.

I am absolutely positive I do. First of all I have friends I met on this site that carried into real life either via my personal FB or because I've actually met them. Then I have people from RL that I send to this site for their issues. Lots of cross over.

Anyone who knows me will recognize me from my posts, no doubt about it. In order for me to benefit from this site (new profile, old member) i have to be myself. If others need to look for info on me, so be it. Of course they could just ask!

I do not think so. I half mentioned it to my counselor a few years back. That was about the only time I said anything.

I told my mom I post on here. She doesn’t care. I haven’t come across any people that I know of. At least that I’m aware of. But I post some of the same stuff on Facebook. So I’m sure if someone I know from Facebook came on here they could put two and two together and figure out who I am. I think only a couple people would have a problem with the things I say.

No. I've mentioned to my therapist and family that I spend time on an anonymous support forum, but I've never said which site or given my username or anything.

There's precious little on my profile page and I don't use names or identifiers in my posts or PMs. So it's possible someone might connect the dots if they knew me really well (which given my condition almost nobody does). But they'd have to search through hundreds of posts on this -- one of many thousands of active accounts.

So .... I highly doubt it.

Are you just "general chat" asking, stayingafloat? Or is there something going on you'd like to talk about?

I do have a question. I talk about my job a lot. But I stay anonymous and I don’t give out my company name at all, or coworkers name or anything like that. And I still worry I am going to somehow get In trouble. But I don’t get how they would find out? Especially since I’m not saying anything bad about the company. Just my own experiences and issues.

I hope to heck that no one who knows me IRL comes here. This is my refugee. his is my safe haven. I don't want people I know in the world to read what I post here.

No. I told my therapist but he would never stalk me here - he feels very strongly about respecting my anonymity.

It's good business practice to remain anonymous. I avoid any posts that ask about location. I also avoid any hint about where I live. People can triangulate who you are based on location, job, and other traits. IMO, people should leave out the key element of where you live. The only thing I've ever divulged here is that I grew up in St. Louis.

My mom knows I post here but she doesn't like internet forums and she's not one to spy. I know my dad likes to read the Psych Central blog but as far as I know he's never used the forum. He doesn't have a mental illness himself, he just likes to read about my conditions and the conditions his friends have. My therapist knows I use an online support forum but I never said the name.

I think I posted on the wrong section. Intended it to be a discussion of sorts.
Sorry about it. Just curious to know.
Thanks for this!

Yeah I consider this forum to be much safer than most other sites, it helped me a lot in terms of the emotional support and advices I received here.
Thanks for this!

I doubt that they do, as far as myself. Most in my own circle have varied other interests. And if any have ventured here, they haven't let on.

No worries. I assumed it was just a question, but I thought I'd ask just to check.

A couple people I know are aware I'm on here. Including some old friends and my boyfriend. However, my family doesn't know. That's probably a good thing, honestly.
