Do you have a favorite form of dance? Do you like dancing along to your favorite music? How does it make you feel?
I used to take ballet and tap lessons as a child and young adult. Now I do ballet at home just about every day, following along with lessons on YouTube or on my own. I'm not that good at it, but seriously I think there are times ballet has saved my life. It's something I can get lost in and it helps me feel stronger. I also like dancing just for the fun of it, usually to 50s and 60s dance music. |

I really enjoy dancing. In my youth I was a ballet dancer. My favorite form is modern though. I also like zumba.

It has been thirty years.
Country music is popular here. Ugh. It pains me to hear. I can't even enjoy myself at a wedding it seems. The two step and line dancing - you've got to be kidding me. The music I do enjoy is blues and there isn't a lot of dancing to that. |

I am a terrible dancer. I dance anyways. I love line dancing because you can totally garble the moves and no one cares. Lol.

I have always loved to dance. In fact, my very first wonderful memories were of dancing in my paternal grandparents' music room while many family members played instruments. This was an every weekend occurrence. They all mostly played Dixie Land and jazz music. But I love all kinds of music and enjoy dancing in many styles.
When I was about 7 years old, my mother enrolled me into ballet. I took 8 years of lessons every week, with about 7 lessons per week towards the end. I had been invited to audition twice at the School of American Ballet (the school under the New York City Ballet Company). Unfortunately, I didn't make those two times, I think mostly because of growth spurts. After the second time, my mother announced that even if I had been accepted, that she would not have let me study there. That announcement sent me into my first severe depression. During my first severe depression at 15 years old, I missed so many ballet classes and school classes that I was almost flunked a grade at school and my ballet instructor demanded tuition even for the classes I missed. My mom refused to pay the ballet instructor. That caused me to feel so embarrassed and unwelcome that I stopped ballet. A whole series of horrible events ensued. But I did eventually start dancing again. I'd dance every day practically; down the road on my way places, in my living room, at parties, in the car (car dancing), to the sound of a flag hitting a flag pole. You name it. When manic, I was known to dance for hours straight without stopping. Many times I'd leave a dance club when they finally closed for the night. That was sometimes 3 am or later. There was a period when I stopped dancing. Depression can stop me from dancing. Also, I had a period of disturbing musical hallucinations that sort of killed music for me for a while. I have started to recover from that, though. I may not be dancing nearly as much as I did in my youth, but I still consider myself a dancer. Now I am the "BirdDancer", and when I don't dance with my whole body, I dance in my head or with my fingers racing around the keyboard. |

I have two left feet, but would love to learn to salsa dance. I'll occasionally put my headphones on & dance to the music...& it gives my girlfriend something to laugh at.

I dance and dance and dance!!
I remember being 14 and memorizing all the moves from the movie "Dirty Dancing" and dancing with an invisible partner. Did you know if you copy all the dance moves throughout the movie you CAN actually perform the last number by yourself?? It's so cool!! I know my last hospitalization the way I coped with being in there was singing and dancing. The counselor said I was the best interpretive dancer she's ever seen. I can move to almost anything. Had SO much fun in dance clubs when I was younger too! __________________ Tales of Love, Motivation, and An Interesting Journey - Please Subscribe to my Website on WordPress: Inspired Odyssey's Path to Wellness and Love |

I enjoy ballroom dancing. Found a group where I live & an outstanding instructor. We have actually done some group dance performances. One was a Waltz routine. The other I had to stop was the tango (actually one of my favorite dances) bur love all the latin & swing dances too along with traditional ballroom though fox trot is probably my least favorite.
My parents couldn't afford dance lessons (& my mom couldn't drive anyway to get me anywhere) Somehow in junior high I ended up in the dance PE clase for several years. We got to do all the dance routines for talent shows & Christmas programs. Guess thst was where I started enjoying dance __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck.
