My therapists told me to "forgive and forget." I told him I might eventually get to forgive but I was never going to forget because that would end up with me back in another abusive situation.

Your quote reminded me of something a man I lived with some years ago. Its in the past let go of it. OTOH there's that saying from George Santayana sp? "Those who don't learn from the past are condemned to repeat it." Uncertain if that's the exact quite. Hop;efully its clear what it means.
