I hate exercising. I don't know why I hate it so much, but it's all I can do to get myself onto the treadmill or any other exercise activity. I have to cajole myself into starting, though it's not quite so bad once I get started.

Do you hate exercise this much, but still somehow get yourself to do it? How do you get yourself to start?

OK, this post is itself procrastination on doing my exercises. Time to start...

I used to run a lot. Ran marathons. But now I hate it. Also lifted wights in the past, but hate that, too, now. I do enjoy my bike, and so that's where I get my exercise now. I think it's important that whatever exercise we do, it needs to be fun. Otherwise, it just won't get done. I also like yoga a lot, but I can't afford it right now.

I would watch TV while using my exercise equipment. It really helped. Especially if it was a show I knew was half an hour or an hour. Then I could just focus on the show instead of the timer on the machine. I haven’t exercised in about 2 years because I have an active job and I’ve been seeing quicker results just from eating less.

I look for all kinds of reasons not to exercise. I’m always glad once I finally get started though. I hate it yet I never regret it I did it and I do regret if I sit on the couch instead. Lol

My exercise in my younger days (until early 40's) was playing racquetball for an hour at lunch with the guys from work. Best exercise & it was a game so it was fun & competitive.

Now I own a farm & my house has 2 flights of stairs I go up & down constantly. I also move around 50 lb bags of horse feed, & bales of hay besides all the work needed around the farm & all the walking to feed....besides the horse riding I do....which will involve dressage lessons & daily practice starting next spring.

Lol....I was fostering young goats that kept getting out of the fencing. Was climbing other farm's fences looking for them & hiking through my overgrown woods for miles.

In my case, life itself is exercise. I like it much better than formal exercise unless I am in PT for an injury & specifically working on strengthening an area of my body

I listen to radio talk shows while I'm doing my exercise routine. That keeps me entertained so I don't get bored. Doing my routine almost every day for a long time is a habit & it feels weird if I don't do them. So I think that's the trick, making it a habit.

Even walking up and down stairs at home makes for good cardio exercise, and half the time we are hardly aware of it.

I’m getting a free gym membership in a supplement insurance and one of the gyms has a rock climbing wall. That’s one exercise I actually am interested in doing.

I go to the gym and run on the treadmill and listen to audiobooks. I know this method is not for everyone, but it makes it more entertaining, and then I actually finish books!

If we do enough of it, walking is actually tremendously beneficial as a form of exercise. The differences in overall health outcomes between walkers and non-walkers is absolutely astounding. So, if you hate exercise, get some good walking or running shoes and get your butt out for a walk. And make it fun. Get some nice headphones. Google good walks people recommend in your area. Or, if you have some close to your home, drive to one of the adjacent local parks and walk there. Whatever you do, there really is no excuse for not at least walking.

I have a pretty powerful case of SAD, so walking outdoors is tough for me. But I agree, walking is excellent, if you can find a way to do it at your comfort level (on a treadmill, with a group at the mall, at the Y).

I have been struggling for years to overcome my fear of going walking by myself. I WILL get there. Sometimes, these things fix themselves in stages.
