Recently I started a FB group setting up a book club for reading books about mental health.
What kind of books are your favorite? I'm looking at a few books as options to read first. Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson is the first book on the list. It's her autobiography of her struggles with mental illness. The catch is it's a comedy! So far I've only read a few pages but I've laughed so much! I love how it's a light read that sucks me in all the while talking about mental health! Perfect Chaos: A Daughter's Journey to Survive Bipolar, a Mother's Struggle to Save Her Paperback – May 28, 2013 by Linea Johnson (Author), Cinda Johnson (Author). This tells the tale of a family interacting with Bipolar Disorder. It's a story that incorporates more then one persons perspective into their trials. It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. This young adult novel tells the story of a stay at a psychiatric ward. It's charming while walks the reader through a unique experience that many people don't have. It is also a movie--I'm told the book is better. What books do you enjoy? Which book would you pick!? Also if you'd like to read books with me let me know! __________________ I hope, I dream, I wish, for a better tomorrow..... |

Also I have read “Brain on Fire” and it’s based on a true story about a journalist who developed a rare brain disorder that caused seizures and hallucinations that appeared to be a psychotic disorder, but then... oops will not tell what happens. Also 6 to 7 years ago read a book about someone who had a stroke and then they recovered and do not recall the name. Thanks for the book suggestions. |
