Feeling really terrible. Not physical. emotionally. . Feeling horrible shame. Broke no laws, nothing illegal. Here's why I'm feeling so down on myself.
Background A woman friend's brother suffered a major stroke recently. My sister told me the other day. A woman friend's husband was hospitalized for heart problems including chest pains. The Philadelphia Sixers could be out of the playoffs, second round. If they lose game seven vs the Toronto Raptors and that's what is most on my mind. I do care about my friends and my woman friend's brother. My friends are in my prayers as are the Sixers. There is no excuse for my priorities. Feeling horribly guilty. If you want to say I'm a terrible woman feel free to do so. I sure do deserve it.

Know what brought my gram to all smiles and true alertness, one particular visit? My sons, myself and my uncle discussing sports. I'm clearly not a Philly fanatic, due to where I'm from on the map, but noooo...I think you are far from horrible. My late stepdad, when freshly hospitalized one round of his illnesses told me that he would come back and haunt me if I didn't go immediately with my friend and her parents to a Red Sox game, just behind the warm up circle. No, not terrible if your team is smack dab in the middle of a serious playoff round. I'm sure your friends husband would rather think sports anyways...it's a glue that binds, so to speak.
Thanks for this!

Sounds like a healthy diversion. It is exhausting to only think about serious things. That you expressed your love of sports in a prayer just means that you are sharing your true thoughts.

I occassionally work at sporting events, I have witnessed true sports fanatics. It's a lot of fun so long as you don't get embarrassingly drunk to the point of starting fights with the other side.

I have no interest in sports but I don’t see how praying for a team to win makes you horrible! It’s perfectly fine in my books!

So people you know of are in hospital. They are getting the best of care. You can always visit them if that is appropriate or send a card or flowers. If it was a family member then maybe it would be different and you would be with them. Dont beat yourself up about thinking about a game. Like nowinners said it seems like a healthy diversion.

Another "horrible person". Really? Please. Ted Bundy was horrible. Charles Manson was horrible. You get the picture. You are fine. You cannot care about everyone and everything with the same fervor. I have come to realize over the years that I cannot save every animal that needs help. I would LIKE to, but I can't. I do what I can, and it is more than most people, so I am happy to be doing my part. I am sure you do WONDERFUL things and don't give them or yourself enough credit.
