Over the years I've noticed the number of people who post in this forum and other forums all over the internet to notice that humans are just not very nice despite how hard they try to convince you otherwise.
How much time does it take one to click on Hugs or Thanks? A few seconds! It's like a rarity compared to the number of people who post. If you're the human species then what species am I because I click them all the time and honestly I rarely visit this place. Ugg I just can't figure out this place called Earth I'm stuck in because it doesn't make sense. Humans don't make sense. Aren't you supposed to be ... "awesome" ... because you are ... "humans?" Don't you have so much power that you put the animal kingdom in chains and make so many of them your slaves? Wow such power! That requires intelligence, right? Humans don't behave so well. Is it because of pain? Are humans in so much pain that they live in a fog all day? Who are you, really? Are you being honest about things? |

I think humans are wonderful. I do not judge someone over what they do on the internet. I am guilty of forgetting the thanks and hugs button all the time. I have friends who will post lovey dovey messages to their spouses on facebook for birthdays and I never do. I just tell my loved ones in person.

I think we need to remember that we're all just that: humans. Unpredictable, flawed, struggling, as well as beautiful, mysterious, and wonderful. You don't know what's happening to the person on the other side of the screen. You don't know what they're going through mentally, physically, emotionally... nothing unless they specifically tell you. So what might seem like the easiest thing in the world (clicking a button for a hug), might look like a monumental task to the person on the other side. Every anxiety hits differently, people are anxious or struggling with different things, and we're not always going to be able to understand it.
Plus, this isn't a website full of therapists. This is a forum for people also struggling to say "hey, you're not alone" and give some advice from a personal place. Nobody is under any obligation to respond to anything or send anything, you didn't have to sign a contract when signing up for this website. So that's why every response and hug is, frankly, a gift. Personally, I just ignore the lack of responses and instead look at the responses there, the people who took the time to send a message or let someone know there are people out there who care. They didn't have to do it, nobody was making them, they did it because they could and wanted to. I'd rather be thankful for them rather than fault the people who stay silent. |

this is a great post, and I don't think I have much to add you've basically nailed it we all do what we can given our various circumstances I have often wondered how someone struggling can come on here and post encouraging support for others when they themselves are having the worst time in the world I think (for me at least), I like to put others first, and make sure others are safe. |

Well said, rv. And what CM wrote, too.
It's definitely a matter of where you post, and how well-visited that thread might happen to be. We can't be everywhere at once. Remember: Everyone here is in some kind of psychic pain, or stage of recovery (dealing with many aspects of our very difficult conditions). I think people do incredibly well supporting each other, considering everything! I try to hug and thank people here as it is warranted. I am honest about how I respond to posts. I believe most people who remain here over a period of time try to do that, as well. It takes time for folks who are in emotional difficulty to get to know one another, and to place their trust in other people. Give it more time. And perhaps go over your expectations of others, again, to see if they are realistic. |

I'm not a big fan of humans and am hoping for a delightful post-human future at some time, not that I'll be alive to see it.
But humans are also cool too. They are pathetic yet awesome, good and bad, angel and ape. I am one, and stuck with it.

200+ seconds to type a post. 2 seconds to click hug/thanks. Justifying that takes magic. Lots of magicians here lol

Sadly some humans would make you feel that way. Then again the things about humans is that we are all different. |

I like to post hugs and thanks. I appreciate that people often just want to be acknowledged and heard.

Truth can be painful. I don't seek to pump the human ego. I'm a truth seeker!

Humans are the only species severely harming & polluting an entire living planet, extinguishing other species, out of balance with nature, but yet so stupid & corrupt they use street lights on every boulevard corner when they could easily build bridges among millions of other laughable stupid corrupt ways of thinking. One could write volumes of books on humans, who btw appear to be getting all worked up flexing their muscles at each other to start yet another world war within 10 years. Sure there's a good side to humans or at least some humans but TBH overall it's a very gross sight, like a vicious virus that's in love with its ego blinded by millions of years of evolution's fight for survival. On the other hand, if your reality is so unstable that things change all the time, then there's probably no truth in your reality. I seek unbiased & untainted truth that will help free me from pain. |
