Our house is very old and we remodel room by room ourselves. The oldest date we have is 1746 which was carved into my girls floorboard when we re-did their room. Our house has been hodge-podged too much to be considered a historical site but everytime we undertake a room we find something cool. So we are making our front room our bedroom and the last time we saw a date for that remodel was 1936. We saved a piece of that wallpaper to frame.

My husband took down the door frame and door way and underneath all those layers was this:
remodeling our old house found awesome wallpaper
This is by far the coolest piece. We are going to get this framed and hang it in the room when it is done, and I just thought I would share.

Sarah, thanks for sharing. What interesting finds as you remodel. Kind of like an archeological dig, huh?
Thanks for this!

Nice idea to frame that if you can get it off the wall in a good size piece.

At one time I believe that every room in my home was wall papered and they took it all down and just painted the walls. Problem with that is all my walls have streaks and the glue is coming through the walls I had painted a while back too. Make sure you get the glue off the walls before you paint them. Sigh....I am not sure what I am going to do to get my walls to be all smooth and also keep that old glue from once again seeping through the paint. Ugh

Back in the day wallpapering was very popular.

Lovely! Wow. Looks like it could have been hand painted, then copied off in sheets.
