They are the "living" Christmas presents I got for my babies. Two Dalmatian male hamsters. I decided to bust them out early be cause it was dark and lonely on the top shelf in my closet. Before now, I despised these little rodents, but ever since my daughter saw a Franklin episode involving a hamster she asked for one...so I got them both one. They are so soft and cute, they haven't bit, but Mister did hiss at me once making me kinda intimidated by him. I love their fur..I like rubbing it on my cheek. I live the smell of their bedding too. They are so cute. I let the kids name them. My son is a bit fearful, but Sissy loves em. I respect the beauty of hamsters now...I really like Mister and Tinkle Bits..I hope they live long.

Tinkle Bits? LOL. Great names!

I didn't know about Franklin until I saw a bit on YouTube and recognized him from my own channel surfing :-) Beaver had the pet hamster, "Henry", I believe. How that worked I don't think I want to know. Don't think Henry would like the water? Franklin has a stuffed dog but in one episode decided to tell his parents he was ready for a real pet. Sorry you got targeted :-) Hope Sissy and son enjoy them.

I agree! Great names. Even better than my piano teacher's cats, Biscuit and Bagel. (Bagel. What an unfortunate name!)

Dalmatian hamsters tend to get/be really big and fluffy and cute! Have you ever seen dwarf hamsters? If not, you should google them or something. They are the cutest rodents, in my opinion. But they're incredibly mean!

As far as rodents go with friendliness, my experience is that rats, good old rats, are by far the friendliest and most playful. The tails are usually a turnoff to some, but if you get past that and interact with them, they really act a lot like puppies!

That's so nice that you got hamsters for your kids. Last year we got a cat a few days before Christmas. I always liked the idea of a holiday pet. Good luck with the hamsters!

We have hammies too. . .and after an intial dislike, I have fallen in love.

I have a beautiful grey haired, sable long hair named Willow, and the kids each have one as well. Our Ronnie is getting ready for Hammie Heaven, so our son has a little female now he has named Saska. They are so sweet and will curl up in your hand and make little vibrating noises.

Pets are therapeutic and offer unconditional love. I would love to get a cat but the boarding home nurse won't let us have one. I think it is a blessing to have a faithful and beloved pet. Greg

Perna...yes, that exact episode. It encouraged me because Beaver had Henry trained to where he would come when she called for him..haha, I wonder if it's possible? The things I take in while watching Noggin with my toddlers..haha. Anyway, yes, I enjoy them. My neighbor claims they are both females..but they're a bit young to actually determine yet. How can you tell then apart anyway?? All I care is they are the same sex. I'm going to let the kids come to the store with me and pick out a ball and some tubes for Mister and Tinkle Bits..it'll be their presents to give out this year. It is so fun having them.
