I just saw Joker with my mom and my aunty today. Amazing film, btw. I rooted for Arthur since the beginning and reveled in the second half as he started taking action. The one thing that stuck out to me about the whole movie, however, is the involuntary, painful sounding laughing fits that he finds himself in frequently. It gave me chills up my neck.
My mom said something funny on the way home and I laughed hard. Then she stupidly asks, "What, are you trying to sound like the Joker?" Like no, she just actually said something funny for once. It irked me at first, then got me wondering whether or not she has actually heard me laugh hysterically before. Most of the time I have this stupid "heeheeheehee" laugh that I default to when someone tells me about a funny situation or something that happened to someone else that was funny, I wouldn't say it's a fake laugh but it's not as impactful as visually seeing something hilarious Then there's the blatantly obvious fake deep laugh that I give when someone tells me something they think is funny, and are expecting me to laugh. So in total I have 3 laughs, a hysterical one, an every occasion one and a fake one. How many do you have and what would you call them? Do you bother giving a fake laugh at all if someone says something unfunny and expects you to laugh? Or do you just shake your head? |

I just laugh when I want to. I don't force myself to fake laugh for anyone, but I can give a sarcastic sounding laugh. I probably have about 4 kinds of laughs. A giggly one when I'm tired, a soft one when somethings only a bit funny to me, and a real genuine one...
I didn't find anything too great about the joker movie, but that's just my preferences. I'm curious, what did your mom say that was funny to make you laugh? Sometimes humor is in the oddest times for me. |

For the life of me, I couldn't remember what she said, she wasn't talking to me, but to my aunty. It just struck me as hilarious for some reason and I couldn't help myself. If she were talking to me, however, I still wouldn't remember what she said- I have the memory of a goldfish.

I do not know how many laughs I have, but your post made me do one of them.

I have numerous laughs. Too numerous to count or remember. I will say that my late parrot mimicked one of my laughs. I'm embarrassed to say it was a kind of psychopathic sounding laugh. It was funny to hear him mimic it.

I used to laugh so hard I could barely breathe when I was telling a funny story. Now I usually just crack a smile when something is funny and it’s usually something on TV.

I don't know what kinds of laughs I have. But I really appreciate opportunities to laugh. I think it's wonderful medicine.
