The same guys whom I posted about taking the 5 gallon of deck paint, did electrical work, installing a fan/light/heater in my bathroom. I turned on my heat and there was a loud roaring boom, then pop, pop, pop. I went into my bathroom where the breaker box is installed in a closet, and there was smoke. I called the fire department and they said to get out of the house. Fire dept arrived and said I'd have to call an electrician. Electrician came, replaced multiple boxes in the breaker box and said it was due to the incorrect wiring they had done which caused all the breakers to burn out. Cost me $300. I won't report this, as I'm afraid of the guys who did it, but they are probably doing this to other unsuspecting people.

I would at least file a complaint with the BBB & maybe with those who certify electricians. But maybe they weren't certified electricians?
I sure understand the problem of finding good help. I am blessed to have a friend who both her sons are certified electricians. I can do the little stuff myself.....but not wiring or putting up ceiling fans. Glad you got it resolved. I took a guy to small claims court. Didn't get my $ but the judge had told me I could file criminal charges because he took a check & didn't buy the materials or do any work. Our DA handled it. I did finally get my money back

Yeah you would think the fire marshal would pay seeker a followup visit, if only virtually, and or the permit should be on file.

Thanks to all of you for your insights and responses. The guys are not electricians, apparently, nor did they report the electrical work when they got their permit with the town. I’m certain their permit was for the outside construction work. Town permits office wouldn’t have known they were also doing electrical. I’ve already had the row with him about the stolen paint, and i’m honestly afraid to antagonize him further. The nice electrician (recommended by town permits office) fixed the problems $300 . He did state correctly that dishonest workers often see us seniors (I’m female , 69, alone) as targets. It’s so discouraging.
