He died in a helicopter crash in California along with 4 other people. I heard that the 4 other people might be his children. They say weather could have been a factor. I remember him a lot from my childhood. I didn’t watch basketball but I think he did a lot of stuff with Nickelodeon.

I saw that news alert today. It's tragic! Supposedly Kobi and his daughter (not all 3 of them) were on their way to a basketball game with another adult and that adult's daughter plus the helicopter pilot = that makes 5. No one survived. I wonder if fog played a role? Still, it's very sad that this happened.

I am really sad about this. Kobe was one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He was one of the most dedicated to his sport as anyone ever. And I heard one of his daughters was confirmed dead, too. So terrible.

What a tragedy. Kobe, his 13 year old daughter GiGi, her basketball teammate, and 6 other people were on the helicopter. No one lived.

I live in the area, and Sunday morning was indeed very foggy on the coast. I can't imagine someone flying a helicopter in that fog. How very sad and tragic.

I had a friend who was a LifeFlight RN here for years. We get tons of fog this time of year and I used to live in terror that that thing was going to go down one foggy night.

Last night, Steven Colbert did a touching tribute to those who were killed in the crash. Colbert's father & two of his brothers were killed in an airplane crash when he was 10-years-old. He discussed the tragedy of someone suddenly disappearing. Quite a tribute to the Bryant family, in addition to the other affected families.
Thanks for this!

It's very sad. He was a talented athlete, but I'm very upset to see him being remembered as a saint.

I feel bad for the families of those who died.
