I know this is a strange question but I am losing my hair like crazy, My self esteem is o low from this its embarrassing, I just had some blood work down and my thyroid levels are low and my doctor is referring me to a RA doctor for a autoimmune disorder, I cant afford a really expensive wig, But if anyone wears them where would you buy one and what company do you trust

I've been going bald since my early to mid twenties. I'm in my forties and it continues. I decided early on to accept it and wear a hat to avoid sunburn. I have an uncle that has worn wigs since right after he graduated high school. He was already bald before graduation. It's obvious.
But, if you feel more confident in a wig, do it. I'll accept you either way.

I don’t know if your insurance co will cover it for thyroid but for cancer they do allow for purchase of one fairly expensive wig and usually they know the best places to go....my mom went locally for hers. It helps to see the wigs on and they can trim it up for you and tell you how to care for it.

This is a very upsetting and troubling thing for a woman to have happen. It would be for anyone, obviously, but for women it is especially hard. I know this firsthand. (My hair loss has stopped---it is coming back now---it was caused by a combination of certain meds and thyroid issues). But for a few years I was extremely upset about it, and no one seemed to understand what it was like for me. I didn't know which way to turn. My hair had been my crowning glory!

I researched online when it became really troubling for me. There may very well be lots of options right in your area that you wouldn't otherwise know about. Check it out and see---you might be pleasantly surprised.

Hairpieces come in all shapes and sizes, to fit many needs. They run the range in price from inexpensive (mostly made in Asia), to pretty pricey, if you have them custom-made, here in North America. Then, there are all the moderately priced choices, in-between.

Hairstylists can also be a great source of help and information with all of this. Many people seek out these services for any number of reasons. And a hairstylist that you can form a rapport with can be a valuable resource at a time like this. I also watched a few youtube videos about this online...very very helpful and informative!

Don't be afraid to do some looking around online. You might find the prices aren't as daunting as you thought they would be, and there are many, many options, from extensions, to partial wigs, and all the way to full hairpieces.

I’m sorry this is happening. It is a huge thing, a loss and yes will plummet self esteem

My mom was a hair stylist and she used Nioxin and it truly helped regrow Hair in about 90% of her clients dealing with hair loss. It took a few months but worth a try.

As for wigs.. there are so many different type and price ranges. There use to be wig shops around where people could go try them on , but I don’t see them anymore.

Wigsalon.com does have a return policy it’s pretty strict but it would allow you to try different ones on at least.
