I just wanted to share some of the positive things I have seen occurring due to the current pandemic and social distancing.

First, I take my dogs on 2-3 long neighborhood walks a day. I have seen so many more people out enjoying sunshine and taking walks and being active. I think that's great.

2nd, so many employers finally allowing employees to work from home and seeing that it's totally possible to have remote employees. I hope this goes into the future and bodes well for people with disabilities who have been fighting for work from home benefits for a long time.

3rd, more people cooking at home since they aren't eating out. But also, more people in my area ordering delivery or takeout from locally owned restaurants to support their communities.

4th, many older people finally learning how to use social media and the internet! My violin teacher, who is in her late 60s, finally started giving video lessons.

5th, All the artists and arts organizations offering free access streaming to their concerts and such. Again, great for the disabled, and I'd be happy to pay for streaming access for these things in the future (I will be making a donation for now). I've been listening to the Met Opera all morning while I work and it's incredible. My favorite musicians have been doing Facebook concerts, and I also find that wonderful. I believe in paying artists for their art, so I will find a way to contribute to them and thank them for supporting our spirits as we get through this together.

6th, Neighbors helping neighbors. I don't know any of my neighbors, but people have put up signs in the lobby with their numbers to offer rides to the elderly and/or grocery shopping to the mobility impaired. Many of us are walking dogs for our senior neighbors and just trying to help out. I hope that continues as well.

I just see a lot of things happening to strengthen community, and I think it's really great. Sorry it took a pandemic to make it happen, but glad to see people helping others. Mr Rogers said "look for the helpers."

So, just sharing my observation.
