I belong to a few online communities and genuinely enjoy the interactions with others. I subscribe to one YouTube channel that is also like a community.
I like streaming some shows...and checking sites for the news. My adult son and I exchange funny emails and text often. We talk on the phone every few days. I have been doing some freelance writing online. I have been trying to get some community support (for seniors) so spend a fair amount of time on the phone. Many offices are just taking messages. My church has services online. Frankly I am starting to suffer from too much online. I also have the radio on 24/7. (I don't have television...haven't since...9/11!) I haven't been outside much because of some misplaced paranoia about exercising around other people. I just read online that it isn't like the corona virus is flying around everywhere on the wind. (SO they say...) My state in on lock down until the 26th. I simply have to change gears. People in my state are staying inside almost 100% and we had news from our governor that our curve is starting to flatten out. Good news. He wants everyone to stay inside except for very short walks. He doesn't want people traveling to exercise. It's like, walk around the block, go back inside. I just think I really need to...set up a different schedule. I don't have a yard or garden which makes it especially tough. My neighborhood is super boring. I would have to drive to get to a nice park, lake, hiking trail. I am sure everyone is going as crazy as I am. I am used to going out often. I never realized how often until now. __________________ Last edited by DechanDawa; Apr 06, 2020 at 09:38 PM.. |

Yes I am going stir crazy. At least I get to leave for work(I'm considered essential because I work at a gas station) but other than work I'm just stuck at home. I used to go out at least once a week for lunch with friends and out to dinner with my mom a few times a week. I've ran out of books and I hate Ebooks. Now it's just sit at home and stare at a TV screen or a computer screen.
I guess the positive is I get more time to "bond" with my family but the flip side is we are getting pretty sick of each other too. Hugs to you and hopefully we get to go out again soon. __________________ I think I need help 'cause I'm drowning in myself. It's sinking in, I can't pretend that I ain't been through hell. Thanks. I just got an ecard from an old friend who now lives in France. People are reaching out. And that's nice. I am not sure what I want, really. I live alone so there is no one to get sick of except myself. Maybe people are just driving around in their vehicles to get out. It's an idea. But I would feel guilty doing that because our governor wants everyone to stay put. IDK. Maybe he's asking too much. Maybe I will start night walking. We've had snow and more is expected but Lordie, it's spring! Thanks for your essential work, and please stay safe! __________________ |

My new schedule needs to see me getting out three times a day...for a short period of time. I also have a home gym set up.
I know my church is open for people to go and just sit there...as there is no services. If I get crazy I may need to just go there. I feel like my mental health is suffering. I live alone without a pet and I just never stay in my tiny apartment this much. It's becoming a bit of a torture. The rather large lobby of my apartment complex has been completely taped off. I think this is a bit of over-kill...as people could go and work or read there and have a very large social distance. I mean it's like a cavern and hardly anyone was ever there. Oh well. I know people are going out for take-out but I am too paranoid. They say this virus can stay on plastic for 72 hours so I am pretty surprised people are picking up food in plastic containers. __________________ |

Getting out three times a day even for a short period sounds like a good idea. And that does indeed sound like overkill shutting down a huge lobby like that. Maybe they don't want to have to sanitize it after people are there?? That's the only reason I could think of.
I took a chance and got a burger on my way to work tonight. Hopefully they are keeping things well cleaned at the restaurant. Fingers crossed. And thank you for the thanks for working I hope you stay safe as well. __________________ I think I need help 'cause I'm drowning in myself. I agree about the lobby. They could really keep it open with warnings. Probably just trying to avoid lawsuits or something. Yeah, I am sure you are staying safe...so continue on. Know you and all essential workers are very much appreciated. I will start the walking thing. I have to. __________________ |

I was thinking of taking a leave of absence from work anyways. I’m bored of watching the same stuff on TV though.
I’m using this time to workout and lose weight I find when you eat the same foods everyday you only want those same foods. I think if they use gloves it’s ok. I’ve gotten food several times and it’s been fine. But the lady at Wendy’s wasn’t wearing gloves but I had a Lysol wipe and I wiped down my coffee, and the straw, used hand sanitizer, and then held the coffee with the wipe while I drank it. __________________ I'm Blue |

I would give a year of my life to have a job. Seriously. I really don't want to be retired or isolated. I intend to find work and work until I can't. I was never interested in the idea of retirement. Being unemployed sucks. But I need to switch gears and start an exercise program and be outside as much as possible. My apartment is driving me insane. I eat eggs, oatmeal, and vegetables daily. I only switch it up to replace eggs with tofu. I lose weight on it. My downfall is pasta. I can't have it in the house. But when I reach goal weight I will eat pasta every Saturday. __________________ |

I spent a lot of my time, pre COVID on-line anyway as that's where most of my support groups are. So in that way, I'm spending more time on-line but I'm not sick of it yet.
I do miss being able to go out for a coffee without being afraid of catching something on the bus - there's nothing within walking distance of my apartment. I also miss not being able to down to my clubhouse once or twice a week. I didn't realize how important it was for me until I couldn't go there. And our gov't is saying end of June/July before they lift restrictions. I'm sure by then I'll go totally stir crazy. splitimage |

The bus. It stops practically outside my door...I get a deep senior discount and it goes everywhere. My county has great bus lines. BUT...will I ever go on the bus again??? Yes. But not for a long time. It's really a big loss but I am not going to chance going on it...sorry for your losses, too. I was ready to break out of isolation right before Covid 19. I had plans of how I was going to do it. But with Covid ALL was shut down. So I was ready to live offline...and now...well...I just don't know. Everything is so uncertain. Stay safe for now. __________________ |

most of my life is online regardless of this situation. honestly I'm cool with it
it's a bit difficult to get shopping sometimes from the supermarkets, and I don't get to see my therapist until it's over, but I'm okay |

Have you also noticed they are showing Christmas episodes of TV shows? I mean, we are already so off schedule why not add Christmas to the mix.

Were you able to get out today and go for a walk? Here it was a good day for walking. Blustery but a nice 70 something day.
