I’d probably ignore them and pretend like they don’t exist like I do with everyone else I see when I am out in public.
If it was Stephen King though, I’d try to make eye contact. __________________ Ridin' with Biden |

Treat them like any other person. I lived for 54 years in Los Angeles which is close to Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Bel Aire.....ran into people like that often so it was a no big deal. Skied in Jackson Hole with lots of Celeberties. Honestly some were total jerks while some were very nice to be around. They are just humans like everyone else

I would treat them like any other person, and be nervous around them...which is like any other person for me haha. I lived in a very small town where a very famous person lives in my late teens and early twenties. They were just a regular person who happened to be famous. Pretty cool person. I think the people in town were protective of the person and respecting their privacy. Everyone treated them just like a local and that helped me see them as a person too, which was cool (helping to break the rose colored celeb glasses for me which is a good thing).

I have come in close contact with a few celebrities (or very well-known persons), and like many have said, I treated them like anyone else. It was exciting, but I understand celebrities want to feel normal in their "off time" like anyone else, and have their privacy respected. The most recent celebrity was Steve Carell (from The Office and 40 Year-Old Virgin). My husband and I were driving towards western Massachusetts for the annual Tanglewood music festival. In our state (just before the NY border) we stopped for gas. In our state, gas stations are all full service, not self service. We asked the gas station attendant a question, but he didn't know the answer (or was unwilling to give it). Steve Carell was on the other side cleaning his Porsche's back windshield. He heard the question, and answered after the gas attendant failed to give advice. He told us that there was a Starbucks down the road, even with a drive-through. My husband thanked him, and indeed there was a Starbucks. That was the extent of the interaction. That was kind of him to be helpful.

It depends.
I was walking inside a small neighborhood in London and saw Jim Carter (turned out he and his wife live in that neighborhood) , I literally acted like an idiot screaming “it’s him it’s him” then I ran around the corner to see if it was him. I was with my daughter, my brother and my niece. It’s now our inside joke. I acted like crazy teenage fan girl. For those who don’t know he played Mr. Carson, butler in Downton Abbey. He is so good looking in real life and he was dressed real sharp. He is very tall and has such presence about him that even if people didn’t know who he was, they’d look at him. |

The few I've met were really cool people. The Brad Majors (rhps) was great. He shook each of our hands and had a short conversation with each of us before the show. I was backstage because my sis and her husband were regulars. I've met Bobby Bare Jr so many times it's awesome. He's a regular guy. I met a star wars person a while back but don't remember them. I was very inebriated. A few others, including a Kentucky import from another famous outer space franchise. He. Was. Actually. Very. Nice. And. Does. Speak. In. Single. Slow. Sentences. To. Mess. With. People. He values being a private person now and doesn't really like people falling all over him.

Haha, this reminds me that yes I would treat them like a regular person NOW. I met a famous former pro WNBA player as a kid, and I was totally star struck then. She was really sweet though and gave me an autograph. __________________ Blerd Girl |

Standing on a street corner in NYC late at night, I realized the guy next to me was Hammer. He was wearing a signature silver jumpsuit, carrying a container of Chinese carry-out. I said something to my girlfriend. She didn't believe it was him. I told her we should not bother him.
He's entitled to privacy. As we crossed the street, a guy coming toward us turned around and yelled, "Yo, Hammer! Did you see him, man? That's Hammer!" __________________ I like that you're broken, broken like me. Maybe that makes me a fool. I like that you're lonely, lonely like me. I could be lonely with you. |

I've encountered several famous people. I'll tell you about Maya Angelou. It was in the early '80s and I was a nurse working at Children's Hospital in San Francisco. I got on the elevator and there was Maya Angelou. I couldn't help but tell her how much I loved her book I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. She smiled briefly but said nothing. Later that evening I saw one of the nurse managers and told her about it. She said her son was very ill and in the ICU.

A customer walked into the shop I worked at and I immediately recognised him as a well-known musician in Australia. I smiled and said what an honour, he graciously smiled back and ordered, confusion on my coworker faces. After he left I said that was John bloody Williamson! As usual they disagreed so I stuck my head out the door and said, mate these blokes are giving me a hard time in here, are you or are you not John Williamson? He laughed and said yeah mate check out me number plate. It read Ol man emu. Google it for a laugh

I do not think I ever have seen or been near a celebrity. If I did spot one I would drop my head and move along. I think most famous people more often or not wish to be left alone.

I have had several brushes with celebrities. My response is usually just to stay cool and smile, if they're looking at me.
My husband's had a lot more, so many that they eclipse my experiences completely. |

I agree. I think especially if they're out with their kids (or family) and are just trying to enjoy their day. __________________ Blerd Girl |

I have been lucky enough to meet some famous people because my BFF is a playwrite and director from NYC and he also worked at an off broadway theater. He has gotten me into cool shows. I was able to go to the opening party for a show and was surrounded by so many famous people it was surreal. Some of the people I have met are: Fran Drescer, Laura Tierney(sp), Eric McCormick, Christopher Meloni, Kim Catrall, Andrew McCarthy, Annabella Scioria(sp), Mathew Broderick- there are many more but I would have to find all my pictures to know for sure. It was seriously odd. I was very good at not being starstruck because this event was not the place to bother anyone. My friend took pics of me with some people but I tried to walk around without my jaw hanging open.

My mom saw Gary Coleman in a convenience store in California in the 80’s. She ignored him. He was quite an asshole to fans.
I didn’t think much about it when she told me the story when I was a kid but she said when she lived in California in the 80’s. So it must have been mid 80’s. He must have still been doing Different Strokes at the time. __________________ Ridin' with Biden |

The only celebrities I've ever met were in the horse world so most people would not recognize them. One, who has a reputation for being an SOB, was polite and chatted a bit when I asked if he would autograph my copy of his books. I saw another in a restaurant after a major competition. I left him alone figuring he was tired from competing and probably just wanted to have his dinner in peace. A third one, who has a reputation as a good guy, turned out to be a sweetheart.
Sarah, I probably would have made a fool of myself if I got to meet Christopher Meloni. |

I have met a few. I just try to stay cool and treat them like anyone else.
One problem I have is that I know a lot of people so sometimes when I see a famous person I stare because I am trying to place them. If it is a friend I don't want to be rude. I have yet to meet anyone that I am a straight up fan of. If I did I probably would lose it. |

Not much. I made eye contact with Henry Winker (Happy Days) back in the late 90s. He smiled and that was that. I'm not a big celebrity fan.
Recently my son met Ryan Gosling while at work. I was very excited about that because people used to comment how he looked like him. So when he told me he assisted him, I told everyone I knew lol It was exciting and some had commented that he "finally met his twin" .. |
