This is especially addressed to anyone over 50. It's hard to picture you as a little kid or even a young adult (especially if you're 80+) so I'm forced to question that you ever were a child. It's fascinating given the great discrepancy between an 85 year old and a 5 year old.
Thanks for this!

Not sure what you mean. No I was never a child. When I was born, I was already 25. Lol

but seriously no it’s not hard to imagine myself as a child. I have pictures and memories.

However I am not hung up on it or obsessed with my childhood. It’s actually rather common for people obsessing with their childhoods. I live in the present. Life is too short to be stuck and not enjoy whatever age you currently are

Haha that's funny @ruby2011.

I like looking at old photos on the internet of people and families from the 19th century or the 1930's or 50's etc., and seeing little children and kids in the photos and realizing they're all dead now or very old people. Well, it makes you realize we were all little babies once.

I remember being pretty young (maybe ten), and yes, I once was a child, and I was thinking how strange it seems how elderly people were once children. So I’m Thinking that must be a pretty common idea in normal developmental stages.

But I get the feeling you are not so young, Ruby, maybe you are in your 20’s. It strikes me as being off for you to be thinking that now, at this age, maybe I’m wrong.

Also, do you know how sometimes you post on here about saying something that upsets people (usually at work)? This is one of those touchy subjects to ask a person who is ‘old’. It feels insulting to us oldies, like you think we’re so ancient we couldn’t have possibly ever been children.

I’m not offended. I’m just pointing out this is one of those things for you to use better judgment about saying to the wrong people, that can get you disliked.

It’s not polite to call people old, or point out that they are old. It’s insensitive.

A childhood photo I think is funny (everyone else in the family photograph is smiling in a formal, serious way). I may have pouted as a child but have been doing it a lot less lately.

Were you ever a child at one time?

I am heading towards 50 and yet remember my childhood quite well. I did kid things, and liked being a kid, but confess when I compare myself and upbringing to many current kids', it seems different in various ways. As many middle-aged or older adults usually say, "It seemed better in my days!" I never had children, so I really don't know all of the issues for today's kids. I certainly don't think kids staring at cell phones and computers for multiple hours per day is a good thing.I really dislike this "fear" that many kids seem to have as a result of the modern day parents.

I am glad I never had kids. I know it's just me, but I wouldn't like to be forced to raise kids in any majorly different way than I was raised.

I used to think that 50 was quiet old. Well now I am 54 and I feel young and look not too bad so I don’t think I am old at all. My dad is 82 and he says he feels no different inside than when he was young. I think it’s all about attitude. My daughter has colleagues my age and she always says to me they are so “matronly” while me, her mom, am not lol

I agree with Tisha. You might want to rephrase such questions maybe asking if people remember their childhood rather than asking if they are so old that actually did not have a childhood 😂
