I am really excited about this. This has been in the works since Jan but then there was Covid. The tests and such were much more involved then I expected. I kept in touch with my local office and was told 2 months ago I had been selected. Then came the back round check and governmental ID check (does anyone know what that entails because I am curious)? While I was packing up on the beach Wed I got my call that in 1 week I will be set up for 3 hours of training and then the rest can be done online. I have to log at least 10 hours a week but there is no cap. I will be getting sworn in and an iphone. Its 20$ an hour! The most $ I have ever made and I havent worked in like 15 years. I am excited to have purpose and do not know what it entails. I am even wondering if this could ever lead to something more permanent. Has anyone started out in the census and moved over to something permanent?

Congratulations!!! That’s awesome!

Government ID check is pretty much identity check, they analyze your ID to find out if you really are who you say you are. Background check looks into things like criminal records etc

This particular job might be temporary unless you are told otherwise but there are other government jobs that are permanent. Even census bureau would employ permanent people dealing with statistics.

That is way cool! And, um, I forgot to fill mine out, so I guess you'll be knocking on my door!

I bet you can parlay it into a permanent position of some kind. Congratulations!

The census is so important. I hope the results are as accurate as possible. I'm sure you will do your best to make that so. Do you have to literally knock on doors? Please be careful, if you do. My mother worked for the census once about 40 years ago, and she once got bitten by a dog.
