I camping!!!! I nature and I the outdoors.

Me and my husband just purchased a new 7-person tent and a queen sized air mattress! I am sooooooo excited and I am sooooooo looking forward to our 1st time camping together - in 3 weeks and with good friends.

I have lived in my tent before - for 2 months while living on a mountainside in Alaska, working at a fish cannery gutting fish 7 days a week. It was the most AMAZING experience of my life -- with bald eagles flying above and black bears living not too far away from us.

I grew up camping, hiking, skiing etc.. My dad is a huge outdoors enthusiast and it rubbed off on me as a kid. I used to pretend when I was young that I was a mountain lion, bounding down the hiking trails. LOL. That's a kid's imagination for you.

Nature makes me feel at peace and one with the universe. Nature is so astounding and awe inspiring. We live on a most vast, gorgeous and spectacular planet.

Anyone else love the outdoors, camping and nature? Anyone else feel this way?

Loved backpacking in the Sierra's & in the Rockies around Jackson Hole where we also skied every winter for several weeks. Loved x-country skiing also into the back country around Jackson. I am a total outdoors person which is exactly why I own a farm now with woods & a stream & a creek. I can not even tolerate city now

@eskielover, oh that's SO cool. I've never been to Jackson Hole, but always wanted to go there. I've camped, hiked and skied in the Rockies. I lived at a ski resort in CO once and was a ski bum for a season. SO MUCH FUN!!!!!! And the Rockies are just spectacular.

I don't like city living either. I told my husband we can never move to the city. I need space, I need clean air, and I need to see more of nature around me and less people. LOL.

Thanks for your post and for sharing!!!!

I love nature, very much. But not a big fan of camping unless it’s in a nice cabin with amenities. I need my comfort.

I agree about beauty of nature. We have ton of nature in my state. It’s like the whole state is one big nature place.

I haven’t been to Rockies, but have been to Smokies several times and Redwoods NP. Spectacular. Nothing beats Redwoods for me

I did fair amount of x-country skiing in life and I ice skate (poorly lol), I can’t do mountain skiing, too scared of heights

@divine1966, you're very lucky to live where you do. Sounds beautiful!

The Redwoods are incredible!!!!! I've hiked through various parts at different times in my life. I need to go back one day soon. My husband wants to travel to CA as well. His brother lives in So Cal... I love northern California the best. The vineyards, the dramatic drops and cliffs along the ocean, Big Sur, and the Redwoods. Sooooooooo gorgeous! If it weren't SO expensive, I'd live there in a heartbeat.

Looking at constant nature disasters everywhere I think I might be lucky living in Midwest. No hurricanes or forest fires or earthquakes etc

Absolutely. I am actually going to the mountains sometime soon to enjoy nature. I live in a suburb but I go to the mountains often. Nature is great. It gets me out of my head for sure.

Hey @Have Hope: My family and I are pros at this and usually camp every summer so I have lots of hacks. One is to make campfire s'mores. Take sugar ice cream cones and pop some marshmellow inside along with the chocolate. Wrap it in foil and put it into the fire checking often. Use tongs to take it out and you have a yummy s'more treat all in one neat package.

Grew up canoeing and rafting wild rivers out west--the Rogue, Snake, Middle Fork of the Salmon. Such memories of God's wonders and beauty.

Yes, me too. It clears my head and brings me greater inner peace.

Enjoy your trip to the mountains!

Ooh, you're lucky!!! Those are places I've never been.

Rafting is soooooo much fun!!! I've gone only once, and it was in the northwest. Rapids. It was exhilarating!!!!! I like kayaking better than canoeing, but I grew up canoeing a lot at camp.

I did a lot of camp... I went as a camper and then was a camp counselor as an adult.
