Don't "At the vet" me! :-) I just had to cancel my vet appointment this morning for one of my cats (took the other yesterday) because he couldn't be found to put into his carrier. I just discovered a little bit ago that he was under the bed (where I didn't look originally because I couldn't have gotten him anyway, have trouble getting down to look under there much less try to do anything about his being there if he is and getting up to live another day if I do :-)

Yes, it was funny because we had trouble yesterday getting our girl cat into the carrier and my husband tried to do it all by himself and was showing me the scars he got :-) One was still bleeding when he got her to the vet. But she was fine at the vets, just hard to get in the carrier to take there. But my boy cat sees all this yesterday and, despite being really dumb, aparently he's not that dumb. We made a mistake and closed the screen door to the porch where we have their carriers (only room with a door on it) too soon this morning and both of them started getting very agitated and anxious. He got really wild looking even. So I had my husband open the door so they could go "wherever" for another 15-20 minutes but then he couldn't be found :-)

Here's a little cat in the carrier trick. It's more like desensitization. I leave our cat carriers out, not shut away in a closet. I have one tucked into a corner of the living room with a blanket in it and another is under an end table with a blanket in it too. It's a little kitty hidey hole. My cats can frequently be found napping in a dark cave of a carrier. Also, because I have special needs cats, I weigh them once a month using the carrier on the scale. They get lots of yummy treats for going in their carrier to get weighed. So they associate the carrier with lots of great things. Whenever I pull the carriers out to get weighed or for the vet visit, they come running!

I've had the cat carriers out and in a favorite room/space for 2-3 months now :-) They want nothing to do with them. Emily, my girl, will "give up" eventually and see the handwriting on the wall but yesterday when I "touched" the carriers (in prep for it being in the right place for putting her in it) Cal, my male cat exited the room post haste like he was being chased. When I called the vets this morning and explained, "I'm sorry I can't bring my cat in for his appointment this morning because I can't find him. . ." the receptionist explained that happens all the time! LOL

aren't we very familiar with this problem we breed abyssinian cats, very smart cats, they even see us touch the cat carriers they hide, we also have had the cat carriers in enticing places for a couple of years, but they won't go near them they know a cat carrier either means the vets, or a cat show (12 hours of boredom for the cat) or for the queens, it may mean they're being whisked away to breed at another cattery, we have been trying to get one of the queens in a carrier to move her into the stud pen with the male, not a chance we have one of those beds on wheels, so when they hide under the bed, we can roll it off the top of them. we had to turn all the couches upside down, so that they can't hide inside them

Lol those were great videos thanks for sharing! I leave out our carriers and they just love to sit in them. My big girl cries whenever we put her in the car, hoever my little girl is an angel and is completely quiet!
