Freecycle and I are best friends until People don't pick up their stuff they claimed. I keep my home clutter free so I can get more clutter. Right now we have 5 boxes of books to look through and pass on. I have gotten really cool stuff in great shape. Last was a cell phone as we have this skill in my family of washing, dropping, running over-our expensive phones! A nice Lady upgraded and gave me her old phone which was just like the one I washed in the washing machine in my shirt pocket. Even with insurance it's 60 bucks for deductible and that company we have for phone insurance is nasty and had poor service. OOPs, got off track there. Got another tens unit today so I can double wire myself!

Apparently Freecycle is not without controversy (what is?). Anyway, here is a Wikipedia article on it:

My freecycle sends too many notices with rules and regulations and changes in policies, people, problems, etc. I can't keep up.

Yeah we recently got a message from the mods about rules etc. Some people got all up in arms about it. I sent the mods a thank you email telling them I appreciate them. Knowing whats it like to work behind the scenes in anything involving the public, I understand. Freecycle is just like any other online forum it seams. Freecycle

Well, my local moderator is a bit of a tyrant and often gets to things just as she approves the message before others have a chance. No big deal if she needs the stuff. The money thing is a "so what" for me. There are power and money grabbers everywhere but my local sites still list really great stuff and it's a way to get rid of stuff other then driving it to your local charity. Case in point, full bed with wooden frame and a separate metal frame gone this week. Perfectly good shape and I didn't have to pay the local charity 10 dollars for taking box spring and mattress which they then sell! I hate some of the policies of what the local charity takes or doesn't and they throw so much away. Perfectly good stuff that just needs to be sorted and put together like childrens play garage or playmobil.

Yeah someone was giving away a new kind sized pillowtop bed. It was just too big for them. I almost got it but had no truck. So yeah, there is great stuff being given away! I just try to focus on the positives.

I joined freecycle in Toronto after reading about it hear. Great concept. I've got a ton of stuff I don't need and cant wait to start offering it, once I get my apartment organized and stuff sorted.
