I’ve been thinking of Covid parties which then had me thinking of chicken pox parties. We didn’t have a party but we had one girl from next door come over. Her mother insisted she bring her over so she could catch it. She never did get it from us.

We didn't have parties, but I definitely remember when I and all my friends got it one summer. I think I was the first out of my gang of friends to catch them, and I remember being allowed to go to friends houses to play when they were sick as I was immune having had it. Definitely no fun. I don't remember exactly when I got it, probably around 6 or 7.

No, but my older sister (she was 15 years older) came home from a date one night covered with chicken pox. I was about 4 and I caught it from her. I'm freaked out about getting shingles.
My daughter had it when she was 7, but my son didn't catch it.

I got chicken pox from a girl that I babysat. She was 7; I was 17. My sister caught them from me. She was 15. Our cousin caught them from us. Eventually, the girl I babysat's little brother got them. I got them in June. There is a 3 week lag between being exposed and when you start showing symptoms. My sister and I were scheduled to go to Europe July 11th with our choir for a competition and my sister was JUST not contagious by the time we left. I remember the director having the whole choir at a rehearsal and asking who has had chicken pox or not. It was very close that we might not go. (Turns out, we won the competition we went to in Vienna!) Being 17, I had a seizure from a fever. Nobody had any parties. We did not want to get chicken pox. As I recall, it was not pleasant, but not horrid either. I got them everywhere!

Well it wasn't a party. But my parents best friends kids had it, so they invited my family over and we played with the other kids and then 3 weeks later all got chicken pox. Glad I got it the natural way. Shingles isn't 100% so I'm not worried about getting it now as an adult.

I certainly don't think a coronavirus party would be wise since people can get seriously sick, or even die from it. As for chicken pox, I had it when I was around 12 years old. My parents and siblings had already had it. I have heard of parents deliberately exposing kids to it to get it over with, but nowadays I would wonder why such kids wouldn't be given a chicken pox vaccine, something that didn't exist when I was a kid.

We did not have a party, but chicken pox went around my Kindergarten class. We all got it. I then gave it to my two younger brothers. I still have a couple scars from some particularly bad pox. I know I will need to get the shingles vaccine when I'm older.
