I think I am going to get a nose pierce again!

I had one when I was 18 and living in Nepal. My mother at the time made me take it out when I returned to the States because it got infected. BOOO. I loved it though - LOVED IT!

But now I am 50 years old - does it seem ridiculous to get a nose pierce at my age?

I really want one!!!

I just landed a new job, but I will not have to interface with clients again.

Thoughts?

@Yaowen, thank you! I know you're right - I just don't want to look like an older woman who is trying to be young and look young.

I really loved the one I had when I was 18.

I agree with Yaowen that you should do what you want. But to answer your question, there will be people who see you as too old to be getting one. There will also be some people who think nose piercings are ridiculous. That's a simple reality. The thing is...Do you care enough about those people's views? You have the right not to.

Thanks! And you're absolutely right. I have a close girlfriend who told me that nose piercings disgust her, and she says if I get one, she just won't look at that side of my face!

But yeah. I suppose there will be varying opinions on it like there are about anything else.

If it’s not prohibited at your work place then it’s perfectly fine to pierce anything you want. My daughter used to tell me that as soon is she is grown up, she’d dye her hair pink. Her school didn’t allow it. Well she just turned 33 and she is yet to have pink hair. It doesn’t sound appealing to her anymore. Sometimes what we want at 18 isn’t same thing we want at 50.

But some things never change. I totally forgot about it but when my daughter was young I had a period of wearing blue mascara and she just recently told me that apparently she thought I was way cooler than other moms because of crazy mascara, well I was a very young mom. But I recently bought bright green mascara. Haha why no clue. It is kind of fun but I am yet to wear it

It’s ok to have fun. I’d not bother with the nose though because all kind of discharge comes from the nose and it would be so bothersome. My nose often either runs or is too dry, having something there would be a nightmare. Not like ear lobes that are just there. But if your nose doesn’t cause you can problems, then why not

I don't like piercings myself. Got my ears pierced and thought it hurt. One has filled in, and I'm not getting it repierced. But do what you want. It's your body.

Thanks. The pain of the piercing is kind of stopping me in my tracks, and now. I am having second thoughts. I am not sure I want to actually deal with a nose pierce again. When I had one before, the tiny little thing would snag on my clothing whenever I got dressed and it would pull on it and hurt. It's kind of a pain to upkeep too.

I had a nose piercing a few years back and it ripped in my jumper when I was pulling it over my head. Fortunately no damage just extremely painful. Never again!

Yeah, exactly. That's part of what's holding me back now.
